Question:

When making purified water via ro and resin route, do you fill your van tank with normal tap water and then draw off the purifed water through filters to be immediately ready to clean windows?

or does it not work like that?

i have a static tank at home, and purify it at home, then pump it into my van.

some guys have ro systems in their van, and they can fill up the vans off a tap and pure goes into the tank. would have to be a big RO though because it a slow process

and then some people do have normal tap water in their tanks and pump it through resin vessels...hope this answers your questions

It don't work like that 

Unless you are in a very soft water area and just use a DI vessel.

You always get waste from an RO and it would take a hefty one to make enough water on demand for the pump. E.G. If you have a 1000 ltr tank of tapwater with a very good RO 500 litres will go to waste and it will need to be pumped by a proper RO booster pump through the RO to make it work  properly because you will have no source pressure.

Most either make it into a static tank at home/base and transfer it to the tank using a sub pump or have the RO on board and fill up overnight.

do you know what the tds is of your water ?

I have an onboard ro system take about 4.5 hours to get 650L of pure water, if you used di only it will produce it straight away. depending on how hard you water is depends if you need an ro and di or just di. Resin is not cheap thats whats used in di. I have a tds of over 470 so ro and di I have to use, or I would spend a small fortune everyday on resin.
