How long, How much
« on: November 28, 2007, 12:45:17 pm »
It may be just something that bugs me, but;

Why do people not ask "How long would this take?" instead of "How much should I charge?"
Surely we all know that prices vary dramatically across the country yet time scale on a specific job would be constant, if done to the same standard.
Price at the end of the day is what you are willing to work for, I price differently for the same type of work dependant on whether i have the time to fit it in, to make it worth the extra hassle. If I am quiet my price would be cheaper to greater the chance of getting the work.

How much should i pay for a hoover, a jet wash, a van, YES, but for m,e how much should I charge is a personal choice on what you think you are worth.

hi there

what gets me is the fact that people starting out are not only how long wil it take, and the how much do i charge.

research......

your business costs = xx.xx per day, week, month etc.

therefore the cost to you of runningyour business, will drive the price that you need to charge the client.

one person per day = xx.xx materials or kit for the job = xx.xx therefore your cost price is known, you then charge for the level of profit you want to make.

regards

martin

It annoys me when customers ask how long a job will take after youve quoted it. Its like they want to work out the hourly rate incase your earning more than £5.00 an hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tell them i dont know but if they rather i could put them on an hourly rate (£35), that usually quietens them down, lol

general bloody public!
