hope this never happens to you!
« on: November 23, 2007, 11:56:58 pm »
Was happily cleaning windows this afternoon, with my 100 metre hose almost fully extended when I feel a sharp tug on my pole. Next thing I know my 9 mil hose is wrapped round my ankle & i'm on the floor watching my microbore disappear down the round as it shears in 2!

I chase after it thinking it has accidentally wrapped round someones car axle when it starts to dawn on me that some nice person has pinched it. As I walk back to where I dropped my pole a guy from across the road tells me he was driving back in when he saw it happen & he chased after the criminal in his car & that my hose & reel is half a mile up the road.

Sure enough, there it is all coiled up by the roadside. So what was that all about?

Anybody have any other similar experiences?

We turned up at a contract to clean some windows and some students were waiting to catch a bus, my hip valve was on the floor wrapped around a cone neatly, connected to the hosereel, it was sitting on the floor. I turned around and some Chav was stamping on it trying to break it, I shouted at him and he  ran away!!! I was so angry, seeing him stamping on it! luke

I've only ever had trad tools pinched but I read a thread on here a while back describing an almost successful attempt at a trolley theft when the guy turned his back on it for a mo.

It's incredible, can't believe what makes people do things like that.

I told ya all, a while back, i left my small home made(but over £50's worth) on one of my custys front hedges as i popped round to clean back. 3 minutes later and hey some scrote has taxed it. I looked upon it as just a pole before, now i look at it as £50 and a chronic pain in the 'arris to make another one. Bar stewards  >:(

Thinking of running my microbore down through the floor or maybe through the back door seal in future. In fact i'll finish my toast and have a look in a minute. Possibly get the tank cutter out and go through the floor and insert a rubber grommit to protect the pipe.

Had my trad gear nicked yesterday. Nipped into the bakers and when I came out bucket, blade, applicator, belt, pouch and scrim...gone. Ladders still there though.

All easily replaced but a right pain. There are some right scumbags out there. Probably doesn't occur to them they're nicking somebody's means of earning a living.

When I first read your post Paul, I thought you meant that someone had nicked your vehicle and driven off pulling the hose behind!!

I just cannot understand the mentality of someone trying to nick a reel of microbore! what would they use it for??

All fixed now i can operate from a fully locked van and still have the option of connecting the reel from the outside with the van locked too for those odd angles. Mind you i'm frozen now!

I too have had a bucket sqeegy and applicator nicked when I went into  shop to get my money.
I once knew this old bloke, when he had something he wanted rid of, he would leave it on his front garden wall. Sure enough, in most cases it would be gone next day. Dai

Yeh thats what I first thought when it happened!!

Managed to repair the hose & microbore but in the process of dragging the hose reel away they have pulled one of the wires out of my pump. Tried to fix it but have only succeeded in finishing off the pump I think.

Alex I have been looking on your website for a new pump, but can't seem to find them, any ideas, or am I just best off ringing Kirsty in the morning.

Thanks Alex.

Thats never happened to me but the other has.

I was doing some office windows when a delivery van pulled up in the way.  I went around the van onto the next window and unknown to me my hose got caught on the van.  Next thing I know is that my hose is dissapearing.  Amazing how fast your reel can unreel at.  Fortunaty some people waved the driver to stop.  I'm a wee bit more cautios now.
As for people that take what is not theirs, words can't express how low they are in society.

Simon.

Had my ladders nicked off the top of my van last week..... stupidly left the van on the road overnight and didnt put it on the drive and padlock the ladders on as I usually do. Came back from my girlfriends quite late so didnt notice til the next morning..... ladders gone, clamps nicked with them too!!  :-\ :-\ :-\ Dont use them much these days... but they were a nice trade set... expensive to replace!!

Give Kirsty a ring tomorrow, she usually keeps spares for pumps. We generally do not sell pumps anymore, but she can often sort something out.
