no notice as usual New
« on: November 22, 2007, 06:02:36 pm »
I have just lost one of my best paying jobs. despite assurances of a months notice I got a call today to say that as a cost cutting exercise I have been given the elbow.
I was due to clean tomorrow. the reason was that as I was just a window cleaner they could get the general cleaner to fill in. Not a problem usually but a car showroom with about an acre of glass needs a few special tools. >:( >:( >:(

It is always a kick in the nuts to lose a customer but when one of the best payers drops you cold at this time of the year it makes me angry. >:( >:(

Any advice on verbal contracts would be handy right now.

p.s have any of you been back to dirty up the windows of a bad customer? ???

if it is dirty it is fair game

I would point out that we agreed to a months notice and that they are scheduled in. If they insist on dropping you, well not a lot you can do....
It's a game of three halves!

I'd tell you but I don't trust you. Safe to say there is not much point going back to hayle for a while. eglo just folded last week. they are closing down soon. the only one left down there is hardly worth the effort.

I have a friend who does heath and safety training courses. He gets a contract for a years training signed. However one company after a few months, told him they now have there own in house safety man and did not require him any longer. He said no problem but you still owe me for six months training, they said on your bike.

He wrote to them saying he would claim the money back through the courts. Then one letter from a solicitor and a cheque in the post.

If you have lost the work you have nothing to loose but seeking 2 cleans fee. But this would have to be in the small print of the contract. And they would show agreement by signing the contract and you both having copy’s of..

Something like this:

We require 2 cleans notice of termination of our services, if for any reason we do not receive the two months notice. Then the cost of those two cleans are payable.

I wish i had some work for you, seems everyone is struggling for new work at the moment.

We could always wait for the harbour development.

If a months notice was agreed send them an invoice for that months clean,if they refuse to pay say you`ll take it to a small claims court if you have it in writing. They`ll just pay you to get you off there back.
