Ladderless no more
« on: November 20, 2007, 07:44:56 pm »
I've come to the conclusion that i can no longer be ladderless. Phoning a customer for access is a waste of time as it gives them a chance to cancel. I'm going to get a pair of six foot ladders and climb all the locked gates sodd em all!

I know many do not like this method....But since I first started...(not that long ago) I have set up my business on the basis that each customer knows their next clean date....Access is then the issue for the customer and to be honest I have not turned up at many house and found access denied.

Cheers
Dave.

??? ???
Balconies.
Windows on the side of houses above a garage.
Windows on flat roofs at flat roof level.

Plenty. ???

I've got more that I now can't reach, than extra ones that I can.
Which I always said before wfp, but no-one believed me as usual... ::)

I'm not bothered though.
No-ones said too much about it.

unless you are very very lucky or dump customers you have to have ladders, there are windows on flat roofs that are to near the roof to be cleaned with pole as squeaky says balconies are another thing aswell, locked gates ect ect

The good thing is, because they're not for daily working off, just access now and again, any old B&Q cheapo will be good enough.

Any ideas of prices?
I could just look on B&Q website, but I'm too busy playing "Colin McRae Dirt" ;D

if you are using a ladder dont but a cheap b&Q ladder get one fir for the job, you may want to check on your insurance before using a ladder that is not fit for commercial use ;)

The window that are tough are the upstairs windows where a single storey extension has been built below them. A small set of steps just lifts you up a few feet to be able to manoever the pole.

You worry too much.

It's only for use once up and down probably 5 or 6 times a month.
It isn't going to break. ;D

I dont worry to much, I just use tools made for the job, just say you slip on a cheap ladder break your neck if could invalidate your insurance or you damage something on someones house or hit them with it (is it really worth the risk for say an extra £50) ?
I prefer doing it the safest way, not knocking you just given my view on it m8  ;)

Squeeky,

Go to Halfords.....................and get a ladder rack for your van ;D ;)

If any window cleaner thinks he can go WFP and NEVER need a ladder again.................. they are sadly mistaken  ::) ::)

Mind you.................I did sell my Triple 3.5m ;D ;D ;D

i got a 8 meter double allu ladder for free because of a screw up with my order, the one i ordered was 9 meter triple ladder- but they sent me this one by mistake, now my triple got damaged in transit- so they gave me a refund and let me keep this one. Thats customer service !  the triple cost £120 but i got it all back and kept this £90 one.

i ocassionally take ladders.. the best thing i would think is to have a decent long one that can fold in half- you can get them on ebay so you can make it into a stepladder shape and use it to get over gates that are locked! and use it for first floor stuff.
i used a step ladder to get over a locked gate of someone whomb i accidentally cleaned who wasnt actually one of my customers i got the wrong road, and cleaned her back windows wfp- but she rang me after she got the letter in the post and said 'i cant see how you could have possibly done the back ones anyway' hmm i didnt say anything.

i think your bound to need a ladder for something anyway

one of my customers doesnt have side access to the back ! but she has a garage and says to climb over the garage with my hose over the roof to get to the back! i do this evertime now with a light alluminium ladder.
