13inch rotary machines
« on: November 14, 2007, 10:42:47 pm »
I see Amtech are selling a 13inch rotary.  Any other suppliers out there selling something similar.

Are they any good with a brush for agitating prespray.

I fancy a small rotary for light work, postpadding, hardfloor work with out the hassle of a 15in machine and its weight.

Ive an oreck obitor but hate it so will this be better.

thanks
Mark

Mark I bought one in their auction, it is a handy machine but....

the brush is 13 inch the machine is 2-3 inches wider so you can't scrub right upto the skirting board.

the brush is too soft so it might work in a pre-spray it doesn't scrub up the pile.

the release to tilt the handle is on the base, so you have to release it with your foot, I snapped mine in the first week.

the trigger is a flat piece of iron bar which traps your fingers on the opposite side of the handle.

I would'nt buy another

Numatic have one and I'm sure Orbis and others do them, there's also the Cleanfix Floor Mac which is similar to the Orbiter but I believe a bit more robust and will take 15" pads. Floor Mac is currently on offer at £285 from cleaning-systems-uk.com

I have the Cleanfix Floormac and use it for agitation with either the brush or double sided carpet tiles cut to size that other wise gentlemen on here suggested.

I also use for hard floors in tenancy cleaning with oversized pads so theres no need to worry about it going right to the edge, then just slip on some bonnet mops and you can dry and polish them too.

Was using a sebo for agitation before and personally I find it a big improvement.

Interesting post Paul............I have used the Texatherm machine to great effect, but with spinal compression lifting it up stairs is out of the question.

I have played around with the Orbiter and found it "limited" wondered whether the Cleanfix machine was a better option with better build quality and more flexibility.

I use both machines, the Oreck and Cleanfix and I personally wouldnt say Cleanfix is any better.  True it is more robust than the oreck but thats about it.

I've got an Oreck Orbiter and used it daily, until I bought the 13inch on the Amtech auction I also carry a 17inch rotary

you need to ask yourself what you want from a rotary before choosing one, for lightness use the Oreck, for large areas where you can get a big rotary in use the big 17inch (but its heavy). As a compromise use the 13inch rotary.

or like me, have all 3 ;D ;D
