We have the first of the large areas of carpet to clean as part of office refurb this weekend.

They are low profile tiles and we will be using HWE.

I know that we need to be careful not to go too hot and to check they are all fixed ok - other than that are there any basic errors to avoid?

Hi Simon,
              If they are bitumen backed don't use any liquid solvent spotters directly on the tiles.

Sorry to disagree with John but you can use solvent spotters for paint etc (you also sometime get stray spots of bitumen on surface from other tiles) as long as you don't soak the spot.

Tiles may well not be stuck down but don't panic there either. If you are working in teams just have a plan ready )who's doing what etc. and always make up my pre-spray before I go to job as this always saves time. Also, have plenty of drinking water to hand as this will help you maintain your pace.

On carpet tiles I would be using Microsplitters and Charly pads, or something similar.

I have just had a thought - I have a wonderwand so shouldnt leave much water but will I be ok without driers as obviously its a sealed air con office block without airflow?


Spencer - I will be using m/s and have just bought a rotary but I have no experience of using bonnets and we are on a fairly tight schedule so that they can replace the furniture etc and start working again fairly quickly.

Hi Guys

I've got Texatherm which is good on office tiles and Dry Fusion is equally highly thought of.

The only problem I ever had with carpet tiles when using HWE was when dirt wicked up during drying.

The customer didn't complain but it wasn't the standard I would like, so keep water down.

Hi, pete,
             I still say don't put the solvent directly on the tiles, I didn't say don't use solvent but indirectly apply with a cloth, and rinse well, another thing is don't put filing cabinets back on damp carpet as usually they are scratched to death underneath, and you will end up with rust marks.

I would use ultrapac renovate as a pre-spray it is fantastic on ths type of job.

3 floors of office carpet tiles recently done.
first day in I used Dry Fusion machine - fine
second day I used HWE with my CFR Wonderand and results were good too.
Both were quick drying.
Office manageress happy.

I know generallt speaking on low profile rotary is deemed to be the choice but I am personally more comfortable with extraction be it my CFR500 Pro or Scorpion.

I do a multi doctor surgery every six month - m/splitter and HWE, also using wonderwand, not had prob;lems with condenation. Loose tiles can be a proble though, I took a spray can of carpet fitters glue last time and restuck about six - manageress over the moon with service!

Using your Rotary with a pad and splitters should enable you to put the furniture back in about 40 mins, with good results on carpet tiles, you will also save yourself sometime too
