I've never understood why anyone should want to carry all the weight (and value) of their RO system around in the van.  I have a 300gpd RO-man in the shed, with a couple of 1000l IBC's.  A sub pump fills my 400l van tank in about 5 minutes so all I have in the van is tank, pump, varistream, hosereel, battery and poles.

I have both a static for my use and an onboard 40inch PureFreedom set up for my employee.

The advantages of the static set up is that you don't tie your van up while the tank fills overnight. The disadvantage is that it's a mess about with transfer hose and waiting for the tank to fill.

The advantage is that you will produce water quickly but how quickly you really cant say. So much depends on water pressure. Also the lot is in the van so no big tank at home with all the gubbins. Another thing is that you can top-up during the day if you need to.

I suppose it all boils down to whether you need your van overnight or not. A 40 inch RO will easilly fill a 650 tank in a few hours. Dunno wat else to say  lol  ;D

RO in van is a waste of time if you ask me,if you have room at home make water there. It just looks good to show off to the customers, that`s about it.

YUP.. it does and they like the image  :)    BTW My other system is an Ionics and like the Freedom look the dogs danglies. It DOES make a difference  :D  The only reason I went for a static at home was I B+ggered up my 40 inch membrane thru neglect and got fed up of forkin out for the sealed DI cartridges u gotta use on an Ionics system. In all honesty I do prefer the lot onboard. I dont need my own van overnight so I miss just unpluggin it from the hose in the A.M. and settin off to work straight away.

Running costs seem about the same really. Ive only saved on resin by not havin to buy sealed cartridges from Ionics. I just refill my DI vessels when needed now.. ahhh bliss  :)

Plug when they are selling no, I am not a mug that gets sold, I got it as this is what suits me, I will be getting static aswell in the new year, I have run out of water once, and that shows me that it will happen again on big jobs, I already have a 650 tank, I do not want a artic to carry my water around in. this is my point and this is a valid one, every one has different needs. I will have both so I can have either or  ;)

Well I dont have a clue about RO's, my tds is 34 and I just have 2 di vessels and have spent £60 on filtration in 3 months and the tds is still 000. I think i will get an ibc tank though and let it fill overnight and then use a sub pump to fill my tank in a few minutes . Luke

similar for me.

Once you've done your round a few times you will know how far and what you can do with your water anyway. A little bit of experience is all it needs.

If you keep running out then either your tank is not big enough, you haven't planned well enough or you are new to wfp and use much more water now than you will do in a few months.
A varistream or pole trigger will reduce usage considerably.

With a flow rate of 1 1/2 litres per minute working non stop for 8 hours solid (without breaks or travelling between jobs) would require 720 litres.

A 400 litre tank would allow you to work just under 4 1/2 hours of constant use with the above flow rate.
The above figures would double if 2 men were working together from 1 tank.

For domestic wc an onboard ro is probably unnecessary. There are more advantages for larger commercial wc.
Which type are you, do you work alone and how much money do you want to spend?

I have an RO system in the van, maybe the answer to your question is that I live in a flat without a garden to put a IBC tank...thats why!!!
