Recently got laptop and would love to find some software program with template for estimating ...... ie: list of rooms sofas etc and just add sizes with preloaded sq metre rates in!!!!!!
Not sure if such a thing exists but anything along those lines and i can get portable printer and do quotes on the spot  ;)

Chris, You should be able to set up an excel spreadsheet that will do this for you. It is basically a calculator that adds up how you ask it to. As for converting it into a survey you can supply a customer I am not sure. Bet someone on here knows how to do it.

Did a carpet today the type of which I have cleaned before but never this dirty and guess what,  Never got them this clean. How good is it on stairs! Takes a bit of getting used to on them though.

Chris, thought you had meant me ;D

I used it on my stairs and on that custys today and it was amazing. There is a technique to it but it gets those lips perfectly as the two brushes just work it over. I have also stuck a soft rubber runner on each side of the head so it does'nt chip paintwork in case it gets away from you a bit. Try it mate.

Chris. Will do.

Getting back to software program with template for estimating.

When we bought a laptop we asked someone who trains people in the use of Excel  to design us a spreadsheet for us to use.

We told him what we wanted and he designed a first version for us, we then had him  to improve until we were happy with it

We now have 5 seperate survey forms, carpets, leather, upholstery, rugs and a commercial survey.  It also works out the price for us. We are then able to save the completed survey with the clients name and a survey number.

We have used this for the last 2 years.

It was not cheap to sort out but was worth the expense.

Alltec have been using this for years and it does look very professional they have a small printer and it also has a presentation on it but I think that could be a bit anal depends on how long you can keep your customers attention span.
