Anyone ever done anything like this?

Been offered a 1000 word editorial for a Parish magazine and would like to put something together and wondered if anyone had done one or has a copy of something I could use.

I got a half page editorial about 7 years ago and people still had the copy as recently as a year ago.
The info I put up, was mainly about ourselves, with a very good photo of my wife..............no jargon no mention of products, or super duper machines, just a story about

Who we were
How long we'd been cleaning carpets
How we guaranteed to get a better result than anyone else
That we cleaned carpets and suites, including leather.

At the time I got the editorial FREE as a regular advertiser !

The anoying thing is when I wasnot sleeping the other night there was a programme on The Community Chanel about writing Press Releases

I remember the first Paragraph had to carry most punch

Then as Rob says there werefive other headings

I think the Five W

But It was not as simple as Who Why What Where and When

I did attend a PR and communications seminar a few years back   If you do not get any more replies I will see if I can find CD and see what tips are on it.

Carpets Thrive On Regular Care.

Your carpet takes a daily battering. You and your family walk on them regularly.
Any number of substances, not all of them immediately visible, are continually dropped on them. Carpets also pick up dust from the air.

There is very little you can do to avoid this, but there is a great deal you can to do minimize the effects. With regular care, your carpet will give you years of service. This guide explains how you can keep your carpets looking fresh, for years and years to come.


Five Ways To Care For Your Carpet.

Remember that your carpet was a major expense item. There are five ways you can protect that investment with relatively little effort:

Prevention — place mats or remnants at all entrances to your home. These will catch much of the transitory soil that comes in with your shoes. Mats will help prevent those unsightly darker areas near your doors.
Regular attention — vacuuming, daily or at least twice a week, is the best way to keep your carpet looking new. A good rule of thumb is to vacuum once per week per resident and animal so, for example, 4 people, 1 dog and 1 cat = 6 times weekly. Upright brush and beater bar vacuum cleaners are most effective.
Periodic cleaning — a thorough deep clean, six monthly or annually at least, will remove dirt accumulated in depth and spruce up heavy wear areas.
Major cleaning — once every two or three years will rejuvenate your carpet and make it look as good as the day it was laid down.
Remove spills immediately— with protected carpets liquids take longer to sink into the pile and this provides a better protection against stains when compared to ordinary fibres.

It is important, in any case, to treat the spill straight away. Mop it up. Don’t rub. Use a blotting effect working from the outside edge of the stain towards the centre. If you don’t get it all up, dilute with water and blot up again. Be careful and do not overwet the carpet.
In case you have not noticed the spill in time, you may find that more treatment is necessary.

Looks perfect Dennis. I want to keep it editorial not advertorial. I happen to know I will be only carpet cleaner in it. Anyony got anything similar on upholstery and/or leather.

Just had editorial done in local paper magazine for xmas.Just explains how I set the company up etc,etc.Paul King has just had one published recently

Perfect slant.......I'm dreaming of a 'green' xmas ......................... all those kids on carpets opening pressies, to add to the xams and new year clean up .....................depends on your target customers as to how you approach the article

Yes. See what you mean Chris and I would say I'm at about 70% eco cleaning now but some jobs just need more I find, that said, I am picking up an envirodri tomorrow so that might change.

No Shaun I think we have worked that one to death. It's still an ongoing debate somewhere else.

Following Shaun's comment above.................why not use the Duplex machine which is designed for wet use and even has the additional option of steam ?

Did you ever use the above template Dennis posted?  Did you have any luck?

Thinking about doing one for directory we advertise in but will have to pay for ours so need to be fairly sure it will work.

Just noticed your reply above, but one point in your editorial confuses me, " easily done , I know "

you say every six months to a year a thourough deep clean, and in the next para, you say once once every 2 to 3 years a major clean to make it look like the day it was laid.

like i said , I am confused . I cannot see the difference in the two, can you tell me the difference ,or anybody else tell me? 
forgive me if you think I am knit picking, I just dont want to miss something.

With hindsight it could be clearer,

Periodic is with the vacuum. The same area should be vacced at half normal speed 6 or 7 times.

Major what we do  (or diy with a Rug Doctor (spit  )
