to be honest yes I do, take a look at lloydstsb business banking if you think I am telling a lie.

Neil why the  , if you like paying bank charges thats upto you, the person asked a question I gave an answer if quoting please include the whole quote (not that I care if it makes me look bad) if just gives others that read it half the info, if you look at other companies, they charge £2.50 approx if you dont pay direct debit, why because cheques cost money to bank this is not a lie and you will have heard this before if you pay bills yourself. Please dont knock others because you do not do it yourself, everyone works and runs their business a different ways that work for them, I do it my way, and you do it yours. I give my opinion to help others, not saying my way is the best just a different way sometimes to what others do, some will learn from it some will not, the choice is theirs at the end of the day.

looks good, but i don't see any advantage of using paypal and emailing them each time.
1 it will cost you in charges 
2 emailing each person will add extra time on how long it takes to do each job
3 if people have paypal, the chances are they will have internet banking facility as well and can transfer payment at no extra cost to you.

You should factor your admin time in the running costs or hourly earning rate of your business. Keeping that to a minimum will make your time more profitable.

Many people still do not have internet banking but do have telephone banking.  The end result is the same as internet banking.  It might pay you to mention that as an acceptable method too.

A CHAPS (same day) payment costs around £30... That's probably what she thought you were asking about?

Whereas a BACS payment takes a couple of days to credit an account, but doesn't nomrally cost anything.

I am in the process of devising a letter to customers to explain about rising costs etc and in my efforts to keep prices down one way I can save is in postage and banking cheques. If they pay online its free to me so it would save me printing envelopes and leaving stamps.

Esp as I was informed the price of a 1st class stamp will very soon hit the 40pence + mark.

hi Bjorn why dont you try free banking from abbey, nationwide or even postoffice they supply everything you need and aslong as you dont get over drown costs you nothing at all

free (always means a term and condition here and there) if running a business go for a business account that will do what you need and for sure if you are a new business I would not recommend getting a free business account as you will need help, you get a year or 2 free banking from a normal business account (then goes up in stages of fees)lloyds tsb, natwest barclays etc, I would not ever trust the post office for my business banking they cant every get letters out on time and control the staff  trust them with all my income NO WAY!!
