« on: October 24, 2007, 11:47:54 am »
hi i got a call the other day to clean 6 holiday lets 2 X 4 bedroom & 4X 3 bedroom houses, i quoted £24 for the 3 beds and £30 for the 4 beds, is this too cheap or is it ok, the reason i thought it could be a potential earner on other aspects of the complex. ie floor sanding and carpet cleaning.

what do you think?

thanks jonny

what durations have you pinned these houses to take?

We clean student properties move in/out on a monthly basis, they can take up to 12 hours sometimes per house (team of 2 or 3) so on site 6 or 4 hours, depending on the state, sometime very rarely we are lucky and have 2 cleaners for 2 hours.

so your 4 bed house in the worst state 12 hours minimum we charge is £15 an hour per cleaner or so if its in a bad way. £180 per house.

if they are easy ones, minimum £50, 2 cleaner for 2 hours.

Holidays lets might be a bit different, but i would have based it on these student properties.

Thanks
Lisa

i would renegotiate if i were you.

Jonny, looks like your creating the hassle  ;)

Are you talking about full house cleans ? If you are the owners must of thought Xmas had come early !! ???

We charge more for one 3 bed than you've charged for ALL 4  :-\

The problem your going to have by hoping that other things come of it is that they are going to expect the same sort of prices no matter what you do.

Hi Jonny

These prices are a little cheap but if they are only week long holiday lets then it will only take a couple of hours to run round and clean. I did a few one year and they were always left fairly clean and tidy. All they needed was a quick vaccum and a wipe round in bathrooms a kitchens. Most holiday makers vacummed before they left and did not use things like the cooker.

I like the fact that you have quoted for each property, as this allows for 'tidy' holiday-makers as well as the 'messy' ones and you can spend more-or-less time in each property as required.
I agree you might be too cheap, however you are the only one that has seen them - furnishings, layout etc. So you must have some idea of how long each one will take to clean.
I assume you did a survey of all the properties first?
As mentioned, do these holiday lets vary in occupation times and is the cleaning only required at the 'end of tennancy' so-to-speak - or more regular? This will make a big difference too.

hi guys, thanx for the replys,

done two today,  1x3bed,  and 1x4bed. the holiday makers were very clean fair play to them,
i feel at the prices i have given them reflects the ammount of work there is in each property.

managed to do the 4bed in just under 2hrs and did the 3bed in just under 1.5hrs.  that was with me another cleaner. she is good.

thanx jonny

Well, that works out at £7.50 per hour, per cleaner for the 4 bed and £8 for the 3 bed - before all your costs are accounted for.

That is about what I would pay an employee to do them. Way too little to run a business!

my wife cleans holiday homes for a couple of companys and she gets 40 for a four ish bedroom maybe sometimes 5 but they still only take 2 to 3 hrs i would estimate at least double what your charging if u want to run a business if your happy plodding along then fair play

If these are weekly holiday cleans then you are too cheap.

If they are one off holiday cleans then way to cheap.

My wife and I enjoy static caravan holidays and believe it or not we take a vacuum cleaner (small) and small steam cleaner with us and clean the van when we get there and thro the week.
Sticky sticky everywhere - all plates, cutlery, glasses washed, cupboard handles etc.
Most holiday makers dont give a hoot.
But the official cleaners who follow us must think its their special day!
