well spent the last few days canvassing,think that i might have to lower my sites a tad...lol . anyway got 30 customers now,canvass ,clean,canvass ,clean  i,am sure you know the score....thanks for the level headed advice ,which did me a favour and slowed my enthusiasm and has made me replan...so i,ll be staying pt for now and trying to build up a customer base hopefully go ft next april.........and thanks to ant who took time out to give me a go of his freedom trolley and show me the ropes...i,ll be purchasing one soon.

In my case work snowballed really fast and got to the point where i had too much for part time. The problem came when i went full time because you need a sudden increase in customers to fill the big gap and being short of work is not nice. Up untill three weeks ago i was scratching around for work and losing a few too. The last few days i've struggled to keep up and worked the whole weekend, it's a funny old game. But if your comfortable with canvassing and have the time to do it then go for it.

only tip I could give if going from part time to full time is canvass and book in work for a month in advance

1 month bad advice. canvass then clean soon as poss then and so on.

if you work full time you would have to do it or you could of course give up your job and cut your wages down then canvass that IMO would be bad advice, obvoiusly waiting a month is not idea better is better than having a cut in wages when first starting is it not?

What I would do is when I canvased a area , any calls I got I would clean asap then tell them it will be x day next time . That way you have got the customer and you can fit them in when it is best for you .
Also I would take with a pinch of salt the amount people on here say they earn .

I started 'full time' straight away from scratch when I left the army.

I had a few grand stashed away that I used to pay the bills with, supplemented by a weekend night time security job that paid peanuts.

I took Mondays off (to catch up with sleep from not getting much kip from Friday to Sunday nights) and cleaned windows or delivered flyers for the rest of the week; I didn't have the balls to canvass to begin with (though I wish I did).

Once my savings ran out, we were truly skint.  It was an 'orrible time and I commited just about every crime there was when it came to UNDERPRICING (don't do it; you and your customers will suffer for it).

Five years on, I've just had to sell a lot of work and I still can't keep on top of it.
