Anyone remember Lifebuoy soap?
« on: October 21, 2007, 04:30:19 pm »
I have recently added this onto my cleaning business: Soap supply, in which after cleaning a customers home you change the soap on a weekly basis and charge a pound for this. What better soap than lifebuoy, this soap  stopped being manufactured in the UK in 2000 but Ive found an importer who brings it into the UK and I have become a distributor.
Everyone I know remembers this soap and people are very keen to buy it, you could probably sell several hundred at a boot sale in one go.
I personally remember being washed by my gran when i was younger with the red lifebuoy, anyone else any memories? Its amazing what you remember from smelling a soap! Go and ask someone now if they remember Lifebuoy, your gran, aunt, uncle or anyone you know and most likely they would have heard of it and would buy it.

Any way, I thought I should offer everyone here the chance to have a bar so if you want one I will send you a bar for £1.50 which includes post. I am not on here to drum up some business but i can supply large amounts as well as small.  You could supply soap as well for your customers, buy it as a christmas gift for customers or sell at boot sales etc, a great extra earner and puts a smile on the customers face. If you would like a bar please email me your name and I will send you my address.

Regards

Soap?

SOAP??

Here in Wales we use sheep fleece and spring water.

I cannot remember that soap actually.  Got a pic of the packaging?  That might help us remember.

For pics etc go to www.lifebuoy.co.uk

As for not supplying soap etc, its extra revenue, we're in business to make money why not take more money off the customers we already have. At the end of the day its all about making as much money as possible, so why not take more off the customers you already have. Anyway you're  there cleaning anyway, place a bar of soap 2 seconds= profit 75p. 100 customers 20 minutes = £75 profit. mmmm

Maybe its just me but they are my thoughts.

I am also planning to introduce other high mark up products to customers as well, not just soap.

.......er yeah......i'm kind of thinking that this probably works well in a commercial setting but domestically i  think people *probably* have the time and facility to do their own shopping...what i am thinking is why do i stop at soap....? where do i draw the line...?

How do i make a 75p profit on a bar of soap u are selling me for £1.50...? By charging the client £2.25 a bar?  :o

Like i say, you idea works well on commercial cleans, but it's better that we domestics stick to what we do best...i'm a cleaner. I also know that for many clients they have to seriously budget to pay for help....I think i''ll leave them to source their own supplies....

Oh chris, its quite cheap on that site.

Personally i wont use bar soap as it is apparently very unhygenic. I buy liquid soap.

Ah! Lifebuoy brings back memories.

Anyway when my kids were little, the only way we could get them out from playing in a puddle was to throw a bar of soap into it!  lol...............
