Golf Club Diary
« on: October 16, 2007, 07:37:28 pm »
Had a call asking if I "wanted a mention" in a local clubs diary for next year. Obviously it would'nt be a free mention. Thought nah, not likely to work but then thought I don't know for sure. Anyone done anything similar. it is the poshest golf club in my area.

Had a company call me last year about advertising in the Childrens Hopsital on their plasma in reception. They played on the "it's not the money but could you help a child" bit tugging on the heart strings. I said where are you from and they at first wouldn't answer and then said we are on the 5th floor, I said " oh can you see the Sheffield Wednesday ground then", "oh yes she said" I said "oh no you can't" and she put the phone down, thought I didn't recognise the accent as the call was withheld.

These professional bodies will do anything to get your money.

Hi Guys

I've been getting irritating calls from a guy selling 'printing for the paramedics'.

I thought we funded this through taxation.

They are scams , don't let the sick attempt to play on your emotions line their pockets.

Cheers

Every year I waste money on advertising - those that seem too good but aint any good.
Every year I say never again!
but every year I fall foul.....

so I am saying it again - not going to waste my money in the next 12 months on these telephine sales pitches
police/fire/ambulance diaries
doctors surgery wall charts
unknown web directories
hospital waiting area screens
and the miltitude of others that over the last 16 years have taken my hard earned money for little, very little return.

I simply ask where they found my number..................when they say where, then my answer is that anyone can find it there as well .................BYE BYE  ;D

Just had a call - someone wanting me to support the local police community advert.

When I explained I was cutting back on advert. so I can put money into my web site optimisation he went on with prices - only £80 fo rthe size of a beer mat.

I said if you dont mind Ill give it a miss - phone goes down - no thankyou, no goodbye, just down! Very polite (not)

By the time these parasites have taken their cut for the overheads of business, what's left to pay the charity? 1%? 5%?
I give direct, sponsor the kiddies football team, that kind of thing. At least if it's "wasted" advertising, it's not wasted, if you get my drift.
