How late can you work?
« on: October 14, 2007, 05:03:51 pm »
Just wondering what the laws are on how late you can make noise?

On friday I was waiting for a call to go clean the carpets of a house that had just been bought and was empty (Joy!). Unfortunately didn't get the call till 4pm (when they got the keys) and was just finishing another job, thinking it must be off! Got there at 5.15pm and it was a semi detached house in a private gated estate. Was a bit worried as I started the truckmount, as it was a 3 storey 3 bed house and i knew i'd be there a while. Turned machine off at 7.15pm, and then just used a porty to do a few problem stains.

Thought i was pushing it after 7pm, although no one complained.
Just wondered what rules are?

did you know the police will not attended a noise complaint in the first instance at a address, i.e what do you call acceptable personally it 8-8 in a built up area.

Only once had a complaint in 5 years of using a  prowler, and that was from a resident that had protested at the school i was cleaning at 11.00am on a saturday.

i don't start the truck-mount up until 8.30am and i like to finish as early as i can, if i'm still working at 6pm, watch out, i'll be mr grumpy!! in the early days had an irish lady threaten to take a hammer to the engine if i didn't turn it off at 11pm, she had a point though it was the summer and you had to have the windows open for fresh air, don't think it's such an issue in the winter when the windows are shut and the telly is on people don't hear much.
