...and another one.

You obviously haven't spotted that there's another section of this forum for "other topics"

I think you'll find most people will tell you I'm always cheerful and have a good laugh with others. ;)

I get wound up by the crap that's getting spouted by the new members lately.
Most of whom don't even put their name or location, as they're so false.

Of course I'm going to complain when people give out bad advise and overhype things to make themselves look good.

I personally always speak the truth on here and live in the real world.

Not some £500 per day, everyone loves me, fantasy world.

Well said Mr.squeeks.
Regular users should know what is bu&&&&it & what's not, & who talks it & who doesn't. It's the others i feel for, that don't know who's word to trust, with some of the advise thrown about on here sometimes it's no wonder so many have problems. ::)

tony

i agree tony

we have jokers and people who keep it real ;)

BUT

lets get sqeaky, quick, lets get him now  ;D ;D

makes a change for some1 else to be getting abuse on here :)

i have got to stick up for squeeky on this one as his posts are truthfull and he has only stated what a lot of us have already been through, basically squeeky wants to supply customer satisfaction like he has always done in the past and although wfp can do a good job some customers just do not like it and feel robbed, whats more i always used to get comments like ee you do make that look easy and i wish i could run up a ladder like that , now they see a man with a stick spraying water at their windows and cant see any skill involved which in fairness is true.
keep at it squeeks some of us still live in real world although i wouldnt mind a bit of the £500 a day fantasy stuff if you have some spare.

I'm gonna stick up for Squeaky too with this one.  I had a torrid time at first with WFP and felt like slinging it in for a while.  I lost a few customers (nowhere near as many as Squeaky though), struggled with adapting to WFP, and generally had a really bad time with it all.  I guess that some people are quicker at adapting than others.  Gradually, the doubters were won over as my technique improved - as did the quality of my work.  People do sense if you have doubts about the working methods you are using.  I had to become more positive and businesslike in my approach.  I advertised in places I hadn't advertised before.  I've still a long way to go but I have also come a long way with this WFP stuff.  Instead of feeling guilty about leaving their windows wet and taking less time to do a job, I now feel good about giving them a decent job and being able to earn more than I used to.  I am also confident that on most windows, most of the time, I can do as good a job (possibly better) as I did with a squeegee.  I needed to start distancing myself from the negative customers as they started to drag me down.  I could still work for them but I made sure that I didn't hang around chatting with them.
A negative customer might make little digs about windows being left wet or "that didn't take long" etc.
A positive customer will see that you are now able to clean the window above the conservatory, the conservatory roof, and the facia boards and will be pleased that you are getting a more professional image.

well said The Shiner  ;)

its my first day tomorrow (wfp)
and to be honest in not looking forward to it  :( :o >:( ??? ::)

really dont know how it is going to go. the trouble is that you get people saying prasing the wfp and saying that you can to twice as much, ££ more, but alot of the the time they dont mention the down side. :(

im glad that Squeaky has brought up the subject so that the newbies (me) actually know the downside.

as for the £500 a day 1 man band, BOLOX

Squeaky i hope that things start to look up for you mate and you get tho this bad patch

Good luck  ;)

good luck jampot on your first day with wfp
take your time and break yourself and your customers in slowly
remember to clean all frames and rinse well
don't be disheartned if you lose a few (i lost 3 on the change over from trad)
don't make the mistake of going back to trad on those who object wfp (this defeats the object of time and money spent)
after a few cleans you will find yourself getting better and faster therefore more time on your hands to get more work (more earnings)
also don't forget cladding/facias/gutter cleaning aswell using wfp (again more earnings)
stick with it and watch your hourly rate grow ;)

Cheers mate.
I'll be fine.
The only way is upwards and forwards etc... :)

I've got a weekly income which always covers the bills and extra bits that pop up, just wouldn't mind a bit more to spare that's all.

Some people around here seem to think I struggle to make ends meet.
Ok... ;D

jampot, the best piece of advice I picked up on here was prepare to go wfp by doing a really good job on the top frame the last time you do it trad. This may be too late for you if you're going wfp tomorrow, but bear it in mind. Where possible, I'd say do as many top frames as poss and then go back to do the windows. Good luck anyway. I doubt you'll regret it.

Best of luck with WFP tomorrow.  It seems that you have to go through a bit of stick with WFP to get to the good bits.  I'm not going to discuss overall figures but will refer to one day (far and away my best day) only.  When I was cleaning the trad way, my best day was in the low 200s .  My best day with WFP (so far) has been £311.  To sustain that pace every day would be beyond me I believe - not that I would have enough work to do so anyway.  A few jobs I can do in half the time but more typically I can knock 25% off.  A very few jobs seem to have no or little time saving.  In general, the larger the job the more the time saving percentage wise.
I want to get more days like the one above but it will take time I know.

I'm sure you've got a lot more work than me to start with.
You will lose some, you can't avoid it.
I can get so much more done in a day now though, even if I'm doing less overall.
Even if I'm rained off on monday I can still make enough by wednesday.
That never used to happen! :)

I'm no worse off per calendar month either, even with the lost work.
The reason being that my round usually took 5 weeks.
Now I do it in 3.
Once I fill the other week or so, I'm laughing!

You'll be fine, honest.
;)

squeaky maybe you are coming to the end of your bad patch and things are going to get better for you  :)

I'd imagine so.
Especially once I get the signwritten van outside the school in the mornings.

Can you explain this more specifically, please?

Am I right in thinking that youre saying the last time you do your round trad, make sure you clean the top of all the windows frames manually (I presume to lessen the amount of dirt allowed to run onto the glass when done first time WFP?).

OR are you saying just the tops of the 1st floor windows frames and not worry so much about the ground floor frames?

OR something else?

Just wanted to have this one spelt out to me.

Thankyou.

Feel free to explain it so a nine year old would understand  ;D

Squeaks
You've stopped taking comments on the signwriting then?

You could have ended up with something really good.

You are hard work at the best of times, but i think the phone call didn't help. and probably you got it in the ear of the missus as well.

The phone call was a bit invasive and cheeky and I wouldn't have liked it either- but every time I think of it I have been chuckling. What I hope is that whoever did is someone you know and is a friend ,and that way however misguided it get's the rest of us off the hook.

Your grumpy misanthropic persona is one thing, and an aquired taste , but if you'd been a bit more accepting of some of the ideas that were thrown at you, you might have got somewhere.

You might not think so but you had some of the sharpest knives in draw pitching for you.

Nah, definately wasn't any of my friends.

The only people I know on here are Ian Giles, Tosh and Roy Harding.
Wasn't any of them ;D

Want the worse bit?
My phone rang from a withheld number again this morning at 6.30.
I was out drinking until nearly 2.
Not impressed.
