When I got my first wfp equipment, I got an oval brush,'cos that's what they gave me I was working one day when a guy asked to look at my backpack. We were chatting and he suggested I'd get on better with a rectangular brush. I could see the logic and got one from Cleantech. To me it seems so obvious that a rectangular one is better, so why are oval brushes made

Rectangular brushes that splay will get into corners and its worth chanfering the edges of all brushes to increase the splay ability.
 Its often interesting to see the foot print of the brush you use by pressing it onto the glass and looking at iy from the inside. You may be surprised how little contact there really is. Try it. Because theres less bristle at the ends of the B&Q it stays on my shelf.
I also have about 30 broom handles waiting for a new home ot use.

That's why you should fit a swivel
All corners at any angle.

Press the bristles of any brush against the glass and you will see the true shape of the bristles.

It is interesting that the shape of the bristles on an oval Vikan when pressed is actually more rectangular than  many supposed rectangular brushes. It is all down to bristles splay and texture.

I personally have not used Vikan Oval brushes for many years but many of our clients still want them in preference to others that they have tried.
