Odd Week
« on: October 12, 2007, 05:47:14 pm »
Been told I'm pricing myself out of the market quoted £120 for suite to be told you will never get any work charging that"funny managed for last 7 years" I told him then a little more abuse my way told him "jog on"before putting phone down.

One of our ethnic friends got his carpets cleaned knocked the price down then asked while your here can you clean my 3 seater and I'll slip you a tenner ::)

Then quoted for leather £120 to be told she can get it done for £25 ???

Hopefully next week will bring better things :)

Hi Steve,

I find you get runs like that, one day whatever you quote is too much and two days later evreybody is saying your prices are reasonable.

At least if they're ridiculous like youv'e had this week you can laugh .

If I were you I'd go and have a few beers .

Cheers

Doug

Maybe you'll get the repair job on the leather suite when the £25 merchant strips the colour off

We get this all over the country but from what I understand the further you go up north the worse it gets, you Southern boys have got it easy!

I got a lady call who said are you the cleaner who uses those driers when you clean and that she had been recommended by 2 people :o (who weren't related) then she went on and said that the last cleaner had shrunk her carpet last time and her settee was wet for a week (well they do exagerate).
I quoted her £135 and fell across a deathly silence, then she said O I can get it done for £50, I said cleaned and dried? she said I was far too expensive and she would try somewhere else.

Keep in there Steve we all get them.

Shaun I would only pay you £35 but I would pay £50 if you and Gunny did it together.

We have had the same lady ring every week for last 4 weeks and get a quote, she says who she is ( cousin of our old book keeper) quote her with 20% discout £95 and she say hhhmmm thats a bit much, eventually gave her the number of a decidedly dodgy cleaner, he quotes £30 and that too much as well ( she live in fenham if thats any help, it sounds like the same mad old bat)

Basically you'lll get them

Thank god  I fought it was just me that got these sort of customers , did a quote on Tuesday , throu lounge hall stairs and landing + 3 p suite , I quoted £220 , the potential customer told me  that a bloke last year did it for £60. I then asked her how long it took them , she said about a hour, I then asked why did't she get them back, because they did a s--t job,    You cant win

Why would you do a good job for £60?

what's the difference, she's only going to expect an hour, what else are you going to do in that hour? employ immigrants to  do  it and then let her complain that they shouldn't be in the country?

Fill in the blanks

Steve, you'll get days and weeks like that!

Funny I normally get them all on the same day, dont know why just get all price shoppers wanting it doing for nothing or sales calls (normall when I'm having a bad day anyway already) >:(

Then some days like today, all genuine callers, all accepting decent quotes and making bookings...... Excellent when having a really busy and good day anyway, apart from not really having the time to talk to them, but hey, if they want to pay me their money ;D.

Cant work it out, never 50/50!

All the best,
Jason.

to do that in an hour he must have used a magic wand/ i charge £90 for a 3 seat  sofa and £65 for a 2 seat because it takes time and i dont enjoy cleaning them . i do enjoy cleaning carpets so i will do better deals   :)
