« on: October 30, 2004, 04:49:11 pm »
As a newbie on here I have been reading all manner of interesting topics.

I see spitfire mentioned a few times. Could someone tell me more about  it PH etc and is it a general prespray, where can I get it??

Also I know of someone using Craftex Champion as a prespray and
HWE with top grade powder

any comments

Phil

Craftex champion would only be used on heavily soiled commercial carpets due to its very aggresive pH. Have you considered pre spraying with micro splitters?

I carry Champion in the van and use it 2-3 times a year, it is a very aggresive chemical and should only be used as a last resort.

spitfire is sold by dry Fusion and i hear its a a great pre-spray , I think its Wooolsafe approved so should be in the 8.5ph range.

Hi Phil

Spitfire Advanced is a Woolsafe carpet and upholstery pre-spray from the Dry Fusion people. It's used for HWE and is free rinsing. This means that the manufacturer recommends that you use a fresh water rinse. Savings are therefor made on the rinse solution. It's an all fibre product and I have used it myself very successfully on all fibres. Unit price is £13.99 for 5 litres or £58.25 for 25 litre drums. There may be a delivery charge dependant upon total order value. The product goes a long way as dilution is 1:30 for general and 1:20 for very heavy. I kept it at 1:30 for everything. For upholstery it's 1:15 to 1:25.

I was very impressed with this product and if I were to return to cleaning with detergents (I'm into microsplitters) this is almost certainly the product I would use.

Thanks for the comments. I agree champion is very aggressive but I couldnt convince my friend, now I will show him your comments.

I am experimenting with micro splitters at the moment with mixed results. I am learning all the time from comments on here.

Thanks again Phil

easi-kleen, Is your friend using the champion on wool carpets? this could be doing damage to the fibres :o also if he is then extracting with a powder detergent, this should be acidic to neutralise the champion pre spray.
Regarding your using micro splitters, if you dont already have a contra rotating brush machine like a sebo duo or host , you will find your results will improve considerably, using these machines to maximise aggitation.
