hi all ive been nosing through this site for a while now,and have just made the leap to go it alone,  i did my first job yesterday ;D
but although i have canvassed before i am finding it really difficult doing this for myself ???
any advice/tips most welcome!
also i just left a job with a cleaner in my area and he has no idea that im going alone,i have no interest in knocking/flyering his work,
has anyone else done this and did it cause friction ?

Just be honest with him or more than likely it will cause friction, this happened to be I trained the guy helped out with a flat to stay in sorted him out a car etc and in return he went behind my back and took work that was meant to be for my company (not saying your going to do that, be upfront with him that's IMO

For canvassing etc, put out some flyers first then knock a day or 2 later you never know you may get calls from just the flyer  ;)

i'd give him a call, if his a nice bloke he'll give you advice, you know his patch so just try a different esate etc.

You might find he passes work on to you if he is fully booked anyway.
