Telephone Book Advertising
« on: October 09, 2007, 08:43:01 am »
Hi all.

I'm being pestered by BT to place an ad in the front pages of the Phone Directory.

Apparently it's a 'Special Offer'  :o whereby you get a colour ad in the the front pages which is repeated Online.

The problem for me is I'm not sure if people really look in the Phonebook for tradesmen/women
and I have never even looked at the BT website to find someone myself.

The Rep,(is that short for Reprobate) is meeting me on Friday so I'd like to know if any of you have used it already and what your valued comments are so I can decide whether it's value for money.

Many thanks

Les

Just asked a customer this morning where she saw my advert and it was the BT Phone Book.
So today it worked - but not like that every day.
It was my favoured directory this year - cut back on Thomson and cut back a lot more on Yellow P

Hi

Unless you use a large advert, which would cost, the problem with directories is that you are just another carpet cleaner of many.

I woudn't pay to go in any Directories if i were starting again.

Thanks for your replies.

It is a bit of a minefield.

If we knew which directories really were effective we'd all be very wise.

There is the opinion that if you don't go in, no-one will know you are about or what you do.

We have had good success in the past with local Village journals and the like, but things have quietened down recently with people seeming more reluctant, or unable to part with their cash. So I was considering the directory as an opportunity to reach a wider audience.

Thanks again

Les

Rule 1: DONT go with the first price they offer you. OR the 2nd, if you're really good at this game NOT even the 3rd. You'd be surprised how low the price can really be if you dig your heels in.

As for this telephone book I can't comment on it as I don't go with that one. I dumped Thomsons because it didn'tpay yet stayed with YP because for me it does pay (I know for others that it doesn't though).
