Heard it all now!!
« on: October 04, 2007, 03:39:10 pm »
While cleaning some flats today the lady of the bottom flat (I do not clean this one) comes out and tells me not to stand in her part of the garden, I thought it was communal gardens but apparently not!

Anyway I said ill only be a minute and it was only gravel her reply was I don’t care you are going to damage my gravel  :o please get off NOW . So I did, trying to keep my mouth shut as I have a habit of telling people to go away if they come out with stupid comments.   >:(

So I now have to clean this one window which is 40ft up at an angle so not to stand only Mrs Grumpy Gravel

Some people!!!

You can stand on someone's property if you need to in order to carry out your work. The only thing is, you must leave it as you found it and not loiter (be there any longer than necessary)

It's obivous when you think of it. What if the gutters were getting replaced on your customers flat? The builder would have to put his scaffolding on her property.

Only thing is, she will probably be just as rude to your customer if you persist. You may lose the job. Don't know if it's work digging your heels in or not. Maybe talk it over with your customer. Might turn out that your customer doesn't like the nieghbour, then you can stand in the garden without worry. You might even get a tip  ;D ;D ;D

She sounds a bit mad to me! But your post got me thinking. What happens in the situation where you're wfp'ing a flat and the water drips down onto the flat(s) below?

I reckon you should get a fake moustache and wig, knock on her door and tell her that you are a stone merchant and you noticed that her gravel is severley damaged and you would like to quote to repair each stone.
When she snaps back at you that they are not damaged you can wip off your clever disguise and say 'I told you so!'

Sorry, Im been silly now! ::)

I make a point of not taking upstairs flats unless I have the downstairs property too, and I explain the reasons why to potential customers when they call. Normally they know their downstairs neighbour, and more often than not I get a call back the next day asking me to do both!

i tried getting the downstairs flats i charge 6 pounds for these flats but cos i was cleaning upstairs i said ill do it for £5, well surprise surprise the other window cleaner is only charging £1.50 a flat  :o

So no chance of me getting the lower flats.

I might just get rid of this work cos of the hassle it causes, don’t really want to cos i can do 10 flats an hour.

I no longer take flats on cos of this place!!!  :'(
