can someone advice me on size
« on: October 04, 2007, 07:14:35 am »
ive just been to look at a job, and its at least 4 stories high, but over a main reception area which i would say is say 10ft long and around 10ft sloping up to about 20ft. i will need to be standing right back

does anyone have any idea on the sort of length i would need? how much will i be looking to spend? and whats the best to go for at this sort of length?

If you are using a light pole, then 45 ft (actual length, not reach) should do the job.  I was working on a commercial job on Monday (using a Super-Lite2 45 ft) cleaning 5th storey windows standing back over a row of Mercedes cars, so I was standing about 15-20 ft away from the building.

If you are using using a more archaic (heavier & bendier) pole, then you may need one that's 50 ft (advertised reach, not actual length).

do you reakon 60 would do the trick?

if i get this job its worth the money in my opinion. and whats the best to go for? the ones that come in sections? are they light? its needs to be light to be honest cause the windows after that one go on and on and on at the same height

I reckon 45 ft would be long enough.  Obviously I cannot advise you exactly what make of pole to go for, but if you went for a modular pole you would be able to add to it in future, but you wouldn't have the advantage of it being telescopic (or is that disadvantage)?  If you have a lot of repetitive high windows, then weight will be very important to you in your choice of pole.

I would recomend the new super-lite 2 for that height & angle. i have a 44ft carbon facelift & as good as it is (especially 30ft & below) i personaly wouldn't want to use it at 44ft for any lengthy period of time & certainly not all day.

modular seems to be a good idea for this one. and as you say adding to it would be an advantage. as i say the windows go on and on.

weight is a biggie yes. what is the unger high flo like? i like the look of that. sorry for al the questions. im not used to working at this height yet. i want a good one thats light and gonna last  :)
