Hi chaps.

as am getting al my wfp equipment sorted i have bought -  Pump - varistream - RO - tds - IBC  tank < hasnt been delived yet tho ..

and i am next going to buy my DI i am going to have the di at home next to the ro so all is going to be in van is tank pump vari and hose and poles on roof. But i was going to buy the little 10inch DI think its about 700ml what i want to know is how long would that last compaird to a blue vessel one? i no the little 700ml would need filling up all the time but how often once a week or more? and if i got a vessel 11ltr one how often would this need refilling.

Also how do you refill the Blue vessel type DI is it hard 

Any info would be great thanks

The blue DI vessels are simple to re-fill
unscrew that top empty used resin rinse with pure
re-fill with new resin -screw top back on and re-connect.
How much resin do they use-you know the answer depends on the TDS in.
I swear by them but have them set up in my vans not after R/0

Dont really want one in my van as i want to keep much space as possible but... another thing is if i get a 700ml little 10 inch di i dont want to keep filling it up every day i dont mind once a week  so not sure what to get.

What van do you run Dave with what size tank?
Also what is your water tds??

i havent got a tank yet am still getting everything together.


but its a Vauxhall Combo and going to be putting 400litre into it filling it up to about 300litre.

my TDS is about 387 lol

I have a berlingo with a 400 tank and its got a DI Vessel in it.
My tds is similar to yours and with an 11 ltr DI Vessel I have to change it every 8 weeks approx.
You would be doing it a lot more with a smaller unit .
If its space that concerns you buy the clips that go around the vessel and you can fit it out the way -say on a side you don't need the space.
Works a treat in mine.

Yep you can do that if you really want to.
It is just connected in with two hozelock connectors.
Just disconnect and you can take the unit out.
It does way a bit full of resin and water so if you are going to
do that mount it in an easy accessible location.

Thanks and i will do. thanks for the advice if i had gone with the 700ml DI i would be changing it few times a week if you change ur 11ltr  every 8weeks or so

Is that how everyone does it?

I just started using a DI only set up and filled two 11 L blue pressure vessels up with Dowex resin.

The screw tops of the vessels have a long filter attached underneath. If you fill the vessel up to the neck how would you get the filters in?

I filled them until they were three quarters full with resin (using a scoop) and then whilst shaking the vessel, pushed the filters down until I was able to close the top.

I know there is still space because I can hear the resin move if I shake it.

The less resin you put in the harder it has to work
therefore the shorter lifespan it will have.
In other words put in as much as possible.

To be honest I probably wouldn't get much more in anyway because those long filter things I mentioned.

There is a long tube with a plastic filter attached which push fits to the screw top
(its internal)
Hope that makes sense.
Its not a filter that needs to be changed as its plastic
I just make sure its clean with a good rinse every resin change

ive been using the same method as you for nearly 12 months . di resin will last about 2000ltrs before it gos to tds reading of 001 ppm . depending on your tap reading mine is 270 at the moment .

so nothing inside needs to be changed other than the resin? and jus clean this plastic bit out well??

yes just change your resin . when i change mine i just give cartridge a rinse out & sponges that are inside cartridge . refill with resin and away you go for another 2000ltrs or there abouts .
