To All New Users
« on: September 25, 2007, 07:00:59 am »
Guys

I have just looked at the amount of new users on this forum this month and I am impressed there are loads of you. but why are you not posting?

Just looking for the answers in the posts you see will not give you "your answer" and what a pain going though all those old posts  :)

I post a lots of stuff on here aimed at new starters, we have all there and it hard work.

You have nothing to fear. just remember that if you read something you don't like or sounds like its personal just sleep on it. reacting is not the way forwards, believe me :)

No question will be seen as silly. all the users on here are very helpful and understanding.

Express Cleaning Supplies have put this forum here to help people and i for one am grateful to them.

Join in.

Respect

Although some people say that question is old hat, sometimes you gain some new information as the people using the forum change and bring new ideas etc .

Yes some information may not be correct , some marketing ideas may not work but it gets you thinking.

You'll be surprised how many other CC's join up (who are already established) and never or hardly ever post, but are on here every single day.

Could it be an insecurity issue?, possibly believing that they have loads to gain by reading everything, but promising themselves never to post - as they dont want to give anyone 'their secrets'.

Sad if that's the case  ::)

BUT, I think there are a lot of genuine cleaners too that not only get a confidence boost by reading posts regularly, but who Im sure would post if they needed help.

Hi

I think when you first join there is a certain amount of information overload, you can search old topics that are of interest to you & so there is more than enough to keep you going without posting.

Plus nobody likes to be critised so may not post until they get a feel for the other posters positions.

I know one of the things that kept my posting to a minimal when is was new and even now, is that i was scared of giving the wrong advice and looking like a pillock, i ussually only posted when i wanted something and to thank people for thier help.

I'm afraid most forums regardless of the industry or subject are like this. Lots of people come on to browse but don't nescessarily want to post. Might have nothing to say or add anyway.
At least this forum is relatively relaxed unlike some where even other companies names are blanked out. Rather silly. If your stuff is that good why worry about the opposition.

I go on a sports forum where you have to post an introduction as part of the logging on process, just few words to say hello, might be worth using here

Hi,

Just thought I would say hello I'm one of the new users you have been talking about. I haven't been involved in carpet cleaning for a while but i am starting up on a part time basis next month.

Have been using the forum to catch up (and there is a lot to catch up on!). As has been said I'm on information overload at the minute, also being new you don't want to ask the same questions that I'm sure you have all answered many times before or be accused of being lazy for not using the search facility.

I am sure I will be asking for advice from you all at some point and hopefully I can contribute to the forum in the future, bit out of touch at the moment.

Thanks

Rob

Well done for introducing yourself Rob, and having your location in your profile (it helps  ;)). No matter how silly, or if they have been gone over a hundred times, just post its fine. Most of us are happy to help a fellow colleague.

Good luck with getting back into CC.

Ok here goes hi to all of you on the carpet cleaning forum.

Im Steve and have been on and off the window cleaning forum since 2003/4 and am now diving into this part of the business to run side by side with the window cleaning business.

Now  i would have asked lots of questions now but i have read other newbie posts and sometimes get a little confused with the answers ie"  go on a carpet cleaning course first then come back here and ask questions".

Ok i know some of the questions that have been put forward are sometimes put forward maybe wiothout them thinking first ? but we  are all here for advice and support right?

Anyway i have been on my "course" at prochem in chessington and hopefully you wont hold it against me much for also being a window cleaner.

Well why do i want to clean carpets?

As i have said i started window cleaning in 2003 and have built up a very good business here in my area mostly with wfp systems. And as im an "all year round" window cleaner i wanted to branch out into carpets as many of my customers ask if i know any "good ones" and after suffering pnemonia and pluerisy i would like to satrt looking after myself a little more in the winter months,so here i am.

So hopefully im welcome? and i look forward to asking all you "experienced (old lol)" cc,up many questions in the not so distant future.

guys

how about the moderators check who has registered each day and give them a personal email not one of those auto ones, then introduce them on the forum with some basic things about them. I am sure that would make anyone feel welcome?

have you clocked how many hits this thread has had over the two days. I think it shows the interest and my point that newbies are reading but not joining in. please guys your welcome, we all say silly things at one time or another, that's not whats important, its making money. start with just a one line question and work up from it.

You would not believe the experience that is on here much of it just waiting to help you.

Take myself. I left school with very very poor English. All I can say the more you use it the better it gets. when I first started using forums years ago when they used to be BBS i used to write in word and spell check it they cut and paste in to message. computers are great tools.

I know people point out about spelling on here and i sure that dont realize the impact it has on some peoples confidence. if your not from the UK I sure you can get help from friends. its worth the effort. I have learnt loads from these guys.

I only yesterday got a very important lesson from a uses on this forum. we talk off line, so you see make friend here and take it offline. chat over the phone many do.

knowledge will make your life so much easier and I am not talking about the stuff at school practical stuff that will make your work easier and more profitable. the more effective you are the more you get done to a higher standard.

come on join in, and well done to those who have

Respect
