Bank Charges!!
« on: September 19, 2007, 09:51:36 am »

Just got my bank charges through for this quarter, yet another three figure sum!!!

Non Automated debits £0.59
Credits Paid in £0.75
Cash Paid out £0.62
Cheques Paid in £0.28
Statments Posted £0.95
Unpaid Cheques Inwards £2.00

Seems I need to switch banks because there getting a little extortiante now.
Is free banking, really free? or do they all do this first 18month/two year deal?

I read on this forum once of having an agreed monthly charge for everything, does anyone have any experience with this?

My bank charges are always in triple figures  :(
If I own a bank I would give it free, then I would probably be the best bank in the world  ;)

Hi Ian,

Do you know of this set monthly amount that some banks agree on?

I wonder why my bank manager often rings me and sends letters, asking if there's anything she can do for me. Probably with the grin of a cheshire cat and rubbing her hands together.

I hear alliance and leicester are good but I dont know were the nearest branch is, and besides need a local one. How about Northern Rock ;D

I believe Alliance & Leicester do free business banking

If you go to their website, top right hand corner is Quick Links, drop down box to the bottom in Customer Service you will find branch locator

You can deposit money at Post offices

If you are a member of Federation of Small Businesses the the Cooperative Bank do mostly free banking - charge for some things. Can also deposit money at Post Offices

I use Abbey business banking, it is free for life and I have never reached there monthly cheque limit in the 3 years we have used them. The only issue I have with them is that you can only bank cheques and notes.

£5.19 eh?  That is indeed a 3 figure sum though two of them are after the decimal point  :)
Although I've never paid business bank charges myself, I don't think I would baulk at £5.19 for a quarter.
You're having a laugh - right?

I do not know this, I have hard enough time going to the bank in the first place to pay the cheques in, I work about 14 to 16 hours a day at the moment (mad i know)and three kids and very little sleep , I am having a week off in the next couple of months so will arrange a meeting to talk about the stupid amount of money they have been taking for the bank charges, the worst thing is when i do bank the cheques i have to wait in a line for about 30 mins that is highly annoying as i get little enogh time as it is then they charge me for it. I need a holiday(roll on feb) mexico i cant wait, family time and no mobile  ;D

So what do you do with coins?

What if you take in £128 in a day? 28 quid of it is made up by 50p's and 1 & 2pound?

Cheers for the replies fellas, I might try what malcolm and charliboy say. I will try to avoid switching for certain reasons but Alliance & Leicester and Abbey sound good

Shinner,

Your confused mate, thats how much they cost per commision. I never said what and how many of what I got charged for.

I pay in hundreds of cheques alone, every time I walk into the bank it costs me money.

Im stopped using business accounts.

Bag your cheques up and put them in the drop box. They never question you that way cos they do it whilst your not there.

They never question cash anyway so that still goes over the counter. That's lloyds too and they are hot making you have a Business account.

Not me, I get it free  ;)

my charges are are about £30a month with lloyds id di say that i would run it through apersonal account but they said that it could be investigated for fraud(due to the large amount of money going in  and not from a employer).

i would change but i think they do a great job apart from the charges.

banks a bank ronnie, I use TSB aswell, but the charges I get are3 nearly 10x what you have, and I think this needs to be addressed, the girls in the bank are as good as gold, new manager is a bit of a thing
