You can get a standpipe licence from your local water company and they give you keys, I think you pay a small fee every 3 months and inreturn you get a lot of water 24-7  ;)

So I am guessing no one on this forum uses Hydrants to fill a tank then.
Seemed to be alot quicker than a tap fill (over night) any more feedback welcome

am i right in thinking that hydrants are under the metal plates that you see on the pavement marked with a "H"
if so they are all over  the place so would be easy to top up with water wherever you are also the pressure presumably would be enough to fill up rather quickly
there are more windows than window cleaners so lets help each other

correct does fill up very very quick 8 hours max normal 20/40 mins this way for 1000l

I've see them filling a bowser, but I think that was for jetting.

I can't see this for wfp, the pressures the orignilal poster was talking of would blow the window in.

So, my take on it is that it's a joke.

The pressure/flow at the brush is what you would normally use, its just the large volume at approx 100 psi thats used to filter through your ROs. Maybe the ROs work a lot better at higher pressure anyway. But would be affected by tds just the same. Its a fascinating topic and there are one or two users out there from other forums also interested and using it, but just keeping quiet.

That's not how I read it Jeff.
He said it was no use for domestic, and the equation he used for cleaning was a jetting one where his logic was a higher pressure/flow produced a cleaner faster job.

For instance if my tank takes all night to fill up, so what? What difference to the actual window  if I had filled up at a hydrant in minutes?

If you follow his logic you could blast with tap water then rinse with pure.

Also you would leave a lot of water whereever you went.

On the other side, though, I also find your meagre usage impossible, so what do I know.

The whole point of filling from a hydrant is that if you travel any distance then you can travel with an empty tank, therefore saving on fuel costs. Also if you ran out  you could refill quickly. The pressure to the window doesn't change only the filling pressure and time. I'm interested in this as I travel quite far with the contracts I've got.

that Bullstopshere guy seemed to be in a high tds area, while I am in a low tds area ranging from 30-55 ppm. I would love to fill up away from home in just a few minutes, at the moment on our first cleans we are just filling up at customers houses. So what do I do next. because I want to be able to do this! I've done a little research and have found the following site

http://www.yorkshirewater.com/?OBH=3866

this page is for the mains application within yorkshirewater.

The attached files are an application form and t&c for using a standpipe
