Apple juice is acidic and marble is an extremely soft stone so the chances are its damaged the surface. Strippers are highly alkaline and are likely to cause as much problem. Sounds like a can of worms that needs a specialist - you can be sure the customer has tried allsorts allready.

Polished or un-polished Marble?

I havnt looked at it yet as I wanted to see what advice anybody had on here first but she did say that "Cillit Bang" was spilled on it before and that a guy stripped it & that removed it. I'll have look at it tomorrow..

Had a look at it today. Very minor. I actually couldnt see any stains. As i stood there looking blankly the client admitted she was "a little fussy" and assured me it was more obvious in different light. I did notice some very vague spots (but then you would if you stared long enough!) but there is no one big stain. They are cream/off white polished marble tiles. Tomorrow Im going to try cleaning with maintainer see if she's happy with that because they do look like they need an overall clean as its the hallway. The drops obviously didnt penetrate too deep as they were hardly visible and surface was smooth to touch so if normal cleaning doesnt work I will advise her to get marble polishing powder

HI.

I had this problem a few months ago, all you need to do is feed the affected area with solid beeswax, will take about 30 mins but will definatley do the job.
Don't panick. I did it wasn't worth it!

Tried normal cleaning today but spots still there (barely visible, you would never notice unless you looked closely)

How much would I need & how do you apply it? And what kind kind of shop would sell it? Its not a large area about 5'x12' but there are lots of little spots so the whole area would need to be done. Is it worth my while?? The client lives just around the corner otherwise I wouldnt consider it.

Hi MOC,

I bought mine from Morrisons, but any hardware retailer should have solid beeswax.

Basically what I did:

1. Use a soft stockingette cloth and apply the beeswax to the damaged surface in a circular motion.
2. Leave for a few mins and and buff up.
3. Repeat this method until the surface appears shiny again.

It took me a good 30/45 mins to get the finish right, but make sure you are feeding polished marble.

A specailist told me that Marble is a living rock, which needs to be fed once a year at least!!!!!

Hope this helps, worked wonders for me, infact the client we did it or asks us to feed he marble every thre month now, costs her a packet becasue she has it everywhere, and to be hinest if she wants to cough up the dosh then we do it.
It's quite theraputic really.- Taht's my opinion anyway.

What you want is the liquid marble cleaner gel, it's about half way down the page.
I don't know the cost, but any of the Prossco produts are very good, but not usually cheap.

Great thanks. I'll let you know how it goes. How can one be sure that marble is polished/unpolished? Is it obvious by looking? These are common shiny marble tiles, smooth to touch, so I am assuming they are polished?

Only got around to doing this today. I used a product called Briwax. It got rid of the stains and gave a brilliant shine but it was very hard to buff. I used the machine and went over it several times but there was still some slight wax residue/streaks visible like when cleaning glass except harder to remove. Nevertheless the customer was satisfied with it so happy all round. Thanks for the tip Den
