I am starting a carpet cleaning business in Birmingham in December and would like advice on the best Truckmount machines on the market. I want a machine that will cope with any situation. I would also like to know what other equipment I will need to operate the business succesfully.

I think roughly for the top of the range your looking at approx £17,000.00 just for the machine, but loads more for other necessary equipment, tools etc. Of course there are other TM's/alternatives, but as you were quite specific i.e requiring the best, this normally means there going to cost a bit!

www.wcsuk.com excellent machines easy to work on .So when it comes to serviceing you wont get ripped off.And there brilliant value for money.I think they have some deals on at the moment with new machines.Have a good look around and dont get sucked in by the people that have something to gain by promoting certain machines.Hope this helps good look.woodbridge is there name.

I don't think you will find ANY machine that will cope in any situation and if you have no experience but are cash rich your best approach would be to spend a day with the sellers of the machines and go on a few courses.

I think you might be wise to include the machine Steve suggests.

If you're ready in the next couple of weeks Mitch and are interested in an immaculate Hydramaster, really well looked after (looks brand new) then contact Dave Roelants. It'll save you a fortune on the early depreciation hit. He may well be interested in selling the van too if you're serious about it, otherwise he's going to keep the Transit and put his new, even more powerful T/M in it.

Although it would be useful to spend the time with manufacturers, I think it would be more helpful for you to spend time with Truckmount operators, particularly those who are now on their 2nd or 3rd machine, we all thought what we bought was great at the time but after a few years you learn what machines to trust and which supplier gives the best service

Also with a TM operator you get the money saving tips, ways of enhancing the TM and what to look out for and how to really clean carpets something TM manufacturers and distributors don't know!

You can tie it down with straps but if your vans going to overturn last thing on my mind would be how my prowler is.Plus the bulkhead should protect you in the cab

If you dont have a bulk head the first thing to hit you will be the prowler, followed by the 40 gallon water tank ! 

A loose wand could also sting a bit if you have to brake hard
