Dry Cleaning Fluid and THE AUTHORITIES
« on: August 27, 2007, 10:28:04 pm »
Talking to my local dry cleaner yesterday.
Do any of you keep solvent records, and do you know about new solvent regs due next month?
My local dry cleaner had an eppy fit when I said we hot solvent clean curtains and vent the machine outside. Do we have to keep solvent loss records, and if so why are the suppliers not informing us of this? They must record where their stock goes too!
Carbon filters, and solvent loss records are the norm for dry cleaning plants now so how do we stand dry cleaning by hand or by solvent machine? Anyone know?
Just dont want EHO breathing down my neck after reading an ad for dry cleaning of curtains! :o
Dont do much of it, but it is a good add on service - just dont need any hastle from it thats all.
Any advice would be welcome.

The volume of solvent ( waste ) from a single recycling machine is negligible compared to the vented solvent from a dry cleaners and the legislation may only apply to fixed premises, just guessing as I know nothing about the legislation, but the requirements for a mobile " chip " van are much less than for a fixed unit " chip shop "for example :-\ :-\ :-\
