choosing a machine
« on: August 11, 2007, 12:01:12 pm »
I am looking to buy a carpet cleaning machine as I intend to introduce carpet cleaning as part of my domestic cleaning business.

I want something that is up to the job but within a budget of around £1500.

I am drawn to the Grace Clean Pro machine that is on cleanstore's website http://www.cleansmartsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/Clean_Pro.html

It has a 70 litre solution and recovery tank, 2x3 stage vac motors and a 130 psi pump with the option to upgrade to a 50 foot hose.

Does anyone have any experience of this machine or any suggestions.

Wait another few months and save another grand and get something more powerful.

Also you need more than an extraction machine to clean a carpet as all it does is flush the dirt from the fibres.

A course should be your first port of call before you spend a penny.  Set aside a few hundred for this.

Hi Northstar,

I started with this machine. I think its Ok as an entry level machine and Matt will point you in the right direction generally. You may even get a training course thrown in!. Good points: Splits in two so a litle more easy to mange. The tanks are large and you won't need to re-fill them very often. Not so good points: The tanks don't get full too quickly because it hasn't got the grunt to extract as much solution as other machines. The long hose is a good upgrade - its crushproof but tends to kink rather easily hence strangling the extraction! The build quality of items such as the triggers could be better but it will get you started as is relatively simple to repair should the need arise. I've just upgraded but will probably hang on to the first machine as a back up (after an overhaul)

Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. Matt is very helpful: I have done the two day course on carpet and upholstery cleaning that he provides with Derek Bolton as tutor and I intend to do the NCCA course at some point in the future.
I'm new to this forum and I am not sure who the comment about taking the p**s is aimed at; I ask the question about the machine as there seem to be some knowledgable people contributing to this site - that's all.

Hi

Just came across this, seems a good priced machine and good spec. Personally seems great for someone just starting out or on a budget. http://www.machinesthatclean.com/Carpet_Cleaners.htm#X-Factor%20Carpet%20Cleaners  Love to hear your comments

It's surprising that companies like Extracta don't import and customise American machines, in the same way that Ashby's do, with the Ninja and Solutions with the Cross American Recoil .

It's a lot easier than manufacturing.

Wonder when the first CHINESE / INDIAN  / KOREAN / Malaysian machine will appear !
