Due to demand I offer it at the same terms and hourly rates as my regular domestic cleaning.
Minimum of i hour needs to be booked.

Hope it helps,

Hi clean and neat

Its not the rates i was pondering, more the condition of the clothes you have to iron.

I do not do ironing per-se but i am very occasionally asked to 'help' with the ironing and do less cleaning, and  i have one client who i do some ironing for every 2 weeks (i agreed to it as the cleaning requiremnets are minimal). Anyway, if i am asked to iron then i use the clients ironing board and iron, for my regular client i take the ironing home and use my iron BUT i have a seperate ironing board for his stuff as the washing stinks. Really it does.

I was wondering if this is quite common and what people do who do ironing away from the clients house? Does different peoples stuff all get ironed on the same board etc? Do you ever feel sick from the smell of clothes that have not been laundered properly etc?

one lady i was cleaning for the other day was doing her ironing while i was there and it stank like she was frying onions. Oh it was vile.

We do ironing oh should I say I have a lady that does it, she does it in a non smoking envioronment and yes she has 2 boards smokers and non smokers clothes, pick up and delivery is free and I charge £1.90 per pound in weight works out about 3 to 4 gents shirts per pound. I would say that this is more profitable then domestics and its less hassle. Phil

hi thanks for the replies.

As someone who washes clothes 'properly' the thought of my laundry been taken away and ironed on ironing boards that are used for smelly peoples clothes does not excite me. It makes me wonder what people think when the get their clothes back (or maybe they all smell?). Not that i'm saying there is much of a soloution, not really, you cant obviously have an ironing board for each and every client.

I wonder what the people who do the ironing think? The client i iron for is a super person, just has a crap washing machine and no idea how to wash clothes. Nor do a lot of people -or so i'm finding.

we use their own boards but use our PAT tested iron which I carry in the car as part of our equipment. I have a nice girl who is willing to do the ironing as well as the cleaning so it is strathforward in my case.

BY regulations you ought to use your own iron, I am certain about it, and as I have the PAT done in bulks it doesn't mean extra cost.

Hi Ildiko

I have often wondered this about when cleaning agencies say the cleaners have to use the customers own electrical equipment...i mean surely there are all sorts of implications?

I know that PAT testing is not a legal requirment (even though it makes good sense and is widely done) because the onus is on the employer and employee to make sure that all equipment (electrical or otherwise) is in good order and of course PAT is one way of proving that you did take good care.

Because small appliances dont last 5 minutes these days, all my clients have very new irons which appear to be in good order, but i have to say its very, very rare i do ironing for anyone.

In fact i have enough cleaning work i'd quite like to not bother doing any ironing lol but occasionally i have to.

Cheers
