POLES SMASHING SINGLE PANE GLASS???

Will a 25ft+ pole smash single pane glass? especially if it's a large pane. Or do they not apply alot of weight onto the glass in reality? Luke

its same as how long is a piece of string     take your time mate when you lower your brush on to the glass and you should be ok

Place the brush on the bottom of the glass and then work up it,if your using a really light pole breaking the glass should be quiet difficult to do unless you drop it,you havn`t broke one have you luke?

i think any pole could smash a pane of glass, no matter what weight, depends how hard you hit it

from my time using water fed pole the only window that was ever broken was with a pole that was not looked after ( Non of the reach and wash systems were) the pole head spun because the connections were lose and the side of the brush hit the window and broke it. If you are really worried about breaking anything just take your time and stand in a position were you are taking the weight of the pole.

No I havent broke a window yet!!! I have the Brodex 25ft pro long, with gooseneck, it weighs just over 3kg with brush and hose and gooseneck, would that break single pane glass? or if I stand closer to the building would it help? Luke

That pole sounds heavy to me Luke,i think my pole weighs about the same as your gooseneck.

Don't exert excessive pressure on the glass if you're trying to remove stubborn birds handywork, etc if it's thin, old, single panes of glass. Just use commonsense and you'll be fine. Easiest panes of glass to crack (especially in the winter if using hot water on a very cold day) are normally the small ones above front door entrances as the glass is normally single paned.

The pole i use most of the time is a carbon facelift 24ft,any other higher work i use the fishing pole.I do love using the fishing pole but the facelift is more versatile and can be used on some downstairs windows aswell.The Hybrid poles are also very good i think i`m going to get a 30ft one cut down so that the sections are even shorter therefore making the pole even more ridgid.

nwh, the hose on the brodex must weigh 400g so if I use pvc instead I will save 200g, if I replace the gooseneck with a gardiner, I will save 400g, then another 200g with an ionics brush instead of a vikan, thats a total of 1kg, so the pole will weigh around 2.5kg, and its extremely stiff ( as stiff as the cf facelift 24ft, held both in space of a few minutes )



notice the weights of some equivalent poles

the official weight of my pole is 2,9kg without gooseneck and with brush and hose, I got the gooseneck free becuase the first pole they sent was defected. The vikan brushes weigh 450g and the hose is that reenforced  stuff!

Hi sean can you describe what material your 24ft so called carbon fiber poles were or are made of please,ia little while ago you sent me one via courier which was damaged in transit and the pole had been snapped,to be honest mate it looked to me like plastic wrapped in a carbon tape like material.

So nwh ( brodex guy is offline ) what can I do to get my gooseneck off, do brodex have some sort of service or part to convert the thread or should I contact an engineer to make me a conveter. Or could I chop the pole just under the current fitting and put in a thread from gardiners?( how would I know if that fitting would fit in the last section?) Luke

You might need to chop it off and then use epoxy resin to set the new thread in the hole,it`ll need to set overnight.

Drill a hole in the end of the thread once it`s set and then feed it through the end and through the gooseneck or angle adapter.
