Hi Guy's, I need to buy a another hose, as the boss keeps nicking mine for the garden :

I went to alex's site and got a little mixed up he is now selling minibore as well as microbore, all's I know about my original hose, is it says 8mm on it?..... is this the internal dimensions or external dimensions, also do I have minibore or microbore??

The ones on alex's site are posted as:-

Microbore 6mm ID and the minibore 8mm ID so I'm a little confussed and in need of a little help for someone to explane it to me, apart from the 2mm difference? that is :

Hi Jeff,

Microbore is suitable for most applications and would be recommended by us as it is  lighter and has a more suitable flow rate for WFP.

A few set-ups find that Microbore is slightly restrictive or upsets their flow rate/pump settings.  For these users, Minibore is more suitable.

Most hoses are sold with the Internal Diameter size indicated, so if yours says 8mm that will probably be the 8mm ID Minibore.

Alex is that price right for your 9mm pvc pole hose £8.75 for 30m? that seems pretty cheap to me? I just paid £15:00 for mine.

I have both minibore and microbore.

I use 60 psi flojet pumps and find that minibore give's me a better flow than microbore.

Both good hose's though.

It should run perfectly well with that pump. You will find that you will use slightly less water.

The price is right Jeff, we have just re-negotiated a new deal on all of our hose products and we are passing the savings straight on to our customers.

I have got both minibore and microbore , 100m of each.

I prefer the smaller stuff much easier to use , but if i want a guaranteed fast flow for dirty job then the fatter stuff is better.

The 8mm fittings work with both the 6 mm and the 8mm but you will need a bit of brute force to get the 8mm fitting into the 6mm hose.

I`ve gone over to minibore and will never go back to microbore,i use a 100psi shurflo and it now works perfectly when using micrbore i was having loads of trouble with blowing pressure switches.

I use microbore and i've been happy with it, but for those with both
is minibore really that much better?
You mention flow rate dave. Does minibore ever restrict you giving something a good wash or is it enough but just not as powerful as microbore?

I reckon its good enough, no more than 2 litres a min, Its very rare I need it faster , but Minibore will give you maybe 3 litres a min if required.

If i had to choose it would be microbore everytime

yes, it is much lighter especially lifting it out of my van and much easier to work with.
It is also a lot lighter to drag around.

If you don`t want any hassle go for minibore,going by what people have said in the past using microbore with a shurflo 100psi and varistream should give you no problems.I went over to a varistream a couple of weeks ago and i`m amazed at how much water i`m now saving.
