If you were to fill a backpack up 16x a day that would mean you would need to be able to produce a 160ltrs of water a day.

Right now I'm going to have to get my calculator out and convert. Unless someone has a quick answer?

i think it depends on how many houses or windows you want to clean per day and how much money you want to spend.
Expect to use around 15 litres for a 3 bed semi with approx 12 windows or small conservatory on the back.
I use on average 250 litres per day upto 400.
I have a 300gpd ro with booster pump and this can fill 220 litre rain butt in
4 1/2 hours. Or you could get a 50gpd ro and pump water around the clock.
If finances allow it is better to get RO with more capacity than you need at the moment or at least the ability to upgrade it.

i use 150 L a day

i run my 50 / 60 GPD RO 24 hours  a day ( for each day i work plus 1 day to refill rain water butt ) into a rain water butt, then every evening i fill my 25 L containers

i work 3 days a week and startt the week off with a 210 L rain water butt full and 10 X 25 L water barrels

it does a great job, i saved enough to buy my next 50 or 60 GPD when this un has had it, i cannot see th epoint in buying a 300 GPD if you dont need it

You are right matt, no point having what you won't need. I only use a1/4 of my capacity.

I've a 100GPD unit,.. but pressure here is low so it produces only half that. I've just got a 950 litre static tank in the shed, and I run the unit all week, and switch it of saturday night/sunday morning when the tank is full again. I'd use anything from 150-350 litres a day, and the 100GPD unit keeps up with me. If you've decent water pressure you'd have no problem with that one, or even a smaller unit.

okay I was looking at 100gpd last night and was thinking about using one and then maybe fitting a 1000l ibc tank in my garage. Well its supposed to be a garage but its more like a window cleaners warehouse ;D. Anyway That should do me with some 25l tanks and backpack with pole. Do I need a di Vessel to finish the job. My water pressure is massive at home.

Get the biggest you can. There's alot to be said for just turning it on and filling up quickly, rather than waiting hours - or all day!

Does anybody have a merlin. Would be interested in how long that would take to fill a 400ltr tank I'm about to buy. Sure it will depend on the water presure but just an estimate would be of some help.

yes, RO-MAN has a small-ish di resin cylinder

http://www.ro-man.com/shop/product_info.php/cPath/33/products_id/98

its refillable with any resin ,and does a great job, 27 quid

if you buy a RO from ro-man something like this

http://www.ro-man.com/shop/product_info.php/cPath/22/products_id/258

75 GPD with a small cylinder of 250 ml DI, you will have to change the resin more often, thats why i recommend to any1 who asks to get the bigger DI above ( for 27 quid )

have it running into 1000 L tank and you will be wekk away, i doult you will ever run out of water,

if down the line you find you dont have enough water ( using a backpack you will have enough ) you can allways add a extra 75 GPD upgrade from ro-man for under 50 quid

get more than you need, a 200 / 300gpd they produce water quicker,  and you will always expand,

why be on the limit or short if you intend getting one anyway.?

these are great value... he also does the 200 gpd... for £109...

my water comes in below 100 tds....and  this unit will bring it down to 000, and fill up your tank without effort.

they are very efficient and the after sales service is excellent....i have bought other items from them

yes i would recommend,  i had a long chat with them and the only reason i didnt go for it was i was offered 300gpd ro man with inline tds meter and di unit and was new as a guy was packing in,

so i got it cheap....

but i was impressed and i know guys on here use them too and seem very happy.

Gary.
