Xtel Hybrid poles
« on: July 29, 2007, 02:56:41 pm »
Can anyone give their comments on this pole if they are using one.

I’m sick of swapping poles during a clean and also feed up with the weight of my 24ft GF. I want a pole without having to swap halfway through a job.

So far my preference is the 31ft x-tel Hybrid because of the 4.6” sections and weight. Or should I just go for the 34ft version again taking into account that I want to use it as an all round pole.

Thanks
Wayne

My universal pole was put into the shed, when I got my 34' x-tel Hybrid, I now use this pole as an all rounder, all day, every day. excellent pole.

Hi Jeff

I knew someone was using one and now remember it was you and your Boss ;D

What brush do you use on it?

Whilst the 34ft Hybrid is a great pole and very usable I still would not want to have to lug it around on most of my work. I always try to use the lightest pole I can.

If you still want to work with a pole that can reach a fair way up then either the 24ft or 28ft Hybrid would be a better pole as they are both a lot lighter than the 34ft.

My choice would to have a cheap and very light 17ft fibre glass X-Tel for 90% of the work and a longer hybrid in the vehicle for anything higher up. This would make you a lot faster and less strained at the end of a days work.

Hi Alex

I use a 15ft on most jobs which is fine but I'm getting a stack load of 3 story work and using my 24ft GF is playing up on the old back. I was waiting for the new SL-X pole but dont think I cant wait any longer and need to get sorted.

Any news on the SL-X?

The 28ft Hybrid would give me a working height of 30ft ish I presume

Pole.......Sections........Extended Length............Weight (Length and Weight of pole sections only)

27ft.........6x4' 6"...............27' 8".........................2.3 kg

Hi PoleMan

Yes we do have a 45 ft X-Tel CF in stock.

Hi Pittmonkey

We still have no fixed production date for the SL-X, we wish we did. The pole is great it's just getting all of the details finalized for production.

The 28ft X-Tel Hybrid is a very good pole, and if you need to get this high you would not be disappointed with this size pole.

What you need wayne is a pole with removable sections but still telescopic. don't know if the x-tel's do this but facelift poles do. So basicaly you only use the number of sections you need, add sections for higher jobs & take them off for normal use. I have a 44ft carbon facelift but use it at 24ft 95% of the time for all tops & bottoms, i only use my little pole twice a month now & this is only on 2 conservatories with very, very tight acsess.
A 24ft carbon facelift is just a dream to use & has a base section not much thicker than a broom handle. expensive? yes, quite, worth it? even more so, once used you'll wonder how you ever managed without it. ;)

@ Macmac
After taking your advice some months ago I was originally going for the Facelift when I first started but due to production problems there was a 6 week wait so had to get an alternative. I had a play with the Facelift at the Fed show in Blackpool and was blown away with them.

The predicament I'm in is that I don’t do any high commercial work and find it hard to justify spending a lot of money for a pole I will probably never really use to its full potential. That’s why I was thinking of the x-tel Hybrid for my 3 story work and should the odd high commercial work come in I may be able to handle it with this pole. The other selling point for the x-tel is that they have much smaller sections.

@ Alex
Does the 34ft Hybrid allow you to take section off when not needed?

Thanks

Hi Rainwater,

The Schrader are compatible with the EZ-Snap male ends.

Hi Pittmonkey

You can remove sections on the Hybrid but not in the same way as a Facelift, you have to undo a bolt, remove the handle and then pull the section/s off.

Alex i was thinking of getting 1 and having it chopped on the sections to make the base section even shorter, what do you think.

Hi NWH,

It is quite simple to modify the section size. Simply remove the clamp lever and ring and slide out the section. Cut the section off to the length you want and re-stick the tape on the section in the appropriate place and reassemble.

For a 6 section pole it would probably take you 40 minutes to modify.

I think i would get Mark or Tony to do it but i don`t want a section to be sticking out of the base section when the pole is closed, what i`m thinking is the base section could be say 4ft in length and if i had say a 30ft Hybrid to start off with after converting i`m still going to have a 24ft pole which is 4ft closed, does that sound about right and is it possible.

Sounds about right and it is possible.  Are you sure you want a couple of amateurs like Tony & Mark doing it for you?  ;) (not that I'm offering!)

I want the same as NWH.

Can't someone make a 4'  bottom extension that attaches to cheap 12'/15' downstairs poles?
