Commercial Pricing
« on: July 20, 2007, 08:50:08 pm »
Hi Guy's. What do you generally charge for commercial cleaning??

1. Do you charge the same price per square foot as domestic?

2. Do you charge one rate for the first so many square foot, and then a cheeper rate there on, and if so, how many square foot at first rate?

3. Do you charge seperately for chewing gum removal?

4. Do you charge more for working through the night?
Thank you Guy's

to tell you the truth james there is no answer to this at all , as everybody on here charges in so many diffent ways ....

the best thing to do is always look at a the job and charge what your happy with , if you havent done much commerical work then just do it for the same as you would in a house to get you started

this way after you ahave done one or two you ll get a feel for what you want to charge  and what you need to charge

1st is right. But like all of us we need to go through these situations to learn. Think about what you would accept without running at a loss and work from there, not the other way round. You'll find your way if you really want to.

Hi,

1). Depends on the job, but usually commercial is cheaper than domestic. Normally commercial work is more straight forward. Larger, clearer areas, out of hours so no chatty custy taking up valuable work time or looking over your shoulder! Usually hard wearing/stain resistant/low profile carpet or tiles which is faster and easier to work with.

2). No just price job as a whole, go in and measure up, make notes of time consuming problems such as chewing gum, possibly awkward stains, furniture moving, access to clean water and waste water disposal, access for machine (have you got to get it upstairs, can you do it on your own or will you need to pay for help) etc...

3). Chewing gum removal is time consuming if done correctly avoiding damage to carpet. Give a price for general clean and general clean with gum removed if theres a lot. I've done pub and shop carpets where the chewing gum removal has taken a lot longer than the clean itself!!

4). Definately! If its during the week then you will miss part or all of the next days work depending on how much sleep you get, take this into consideration when pricing job (nothing worse than finishing a commercial job at 5 in the morning knowing you've got a full day starting at 9).

I try and do commercials at weekends, I actually did a training centre today (or yesterday now), started at 10 finished by 5. Given keys and alarm details when arrived, did job re-set alarm and locked up, taking keys back on Monday.

Hope this helps.

All the best,
Jason.
