What sort of people are you?
« on: July 20, 2007, 02:14:09 pm »
Abit of a contraversial question, but, one that is worthy of an answer. There are many, many thousands of cleaners in the Uk working day and night, but only a small fraction of that amount find time to frequent forums such as this (are they the stupid ones or are we for doing it)!! Only about 450 of the 11,500 registered members ever come back and post, many just look, so it's down to the same old people posting away time and time again, asking and answering the same old questions. So, my question, are we/you the daft ones, do you come on here because you feel lonely and insecure, do you need reassurance all the time from other carpet cleaners or do you have nothing better to do?? With all the belittling of new members I am confident that the lack of postings by 'new' members are due to the older ones raising their guard, wanting to protect their status....So why do you bother??

I come on here to be educated and learn how to make good use of the English language and hopefully improve my grammar.

This would give me greater self esteem and security, while making me feel wanted, like, part of a family, besides I've nothing else to do. It's 3-15pm and the only two jobs I had today, were done by 2-30pm.

Basically, I'm just, born lazy, have nothing to offer newbies and with only 23 years experience in the business, am hardly in a position to be giving advice, as I must have been doing everything wrong to survive for that length of time.

no chance of retiring, but I've been gradually reducing my c/c activities for the past 3 years. Hoping to sell our main business soon, separate to c/c, which will allow me to stop c/c entirely

I am indeed "old "but can work most younger people into the ground having exceptional stamina and 20 odd years in martial arts has given me a level of fitness, many half my age can only aspire to.

My wife makes me come on here when I have been naughty. She told her cousin about it and she said it sounds like a cult to me. I said your not far off there.

I think its a bit of a strange question really, c to c
your suggesting that we need reasurance, or perhaps bored  and that only a small minority ever come back.
well I will be the first to admit , yes I can seek reasuurance from the more experienced c/c if I am not quite sure of some thing, surly that makes me a better professional !!  seeking out the best way, an easier way, or the correct way . Doesnt it? or is it better to to think sod it Ill get on with it the way I think is best and risk getting it wrong.

So on that point ,your prognosis, that we could be the stupid ones  perhaps suggests that they are the stupid ones :)

where else do you find new ideas, the latest eqipment, the latest chems etc etc ? " I have spoken to a few c/c , and they have never heard of any number of products and eqipment"  their loss, my gain , i Guess.

you can buy and sell, have a good disscusion, or argument ;) on the general chat , and even have a good laugh ;D

As for bored, No if I am bored . There are much better sites ;)  non of which I shall name here :)
So basicly , its not a case of "Nothing better to do" its a case of Why not!!

who ever said dont knock before u try ,i never tried dog crap but i know i wouldnt like  haha

Hi

I come on here to help if I can, give advice where I feel, chat on a topic  I like, banter with len (yo Len!) and generally talk to people who have something in common with what I do.

I am sure our wives & partners are sick of hearing our ' oh my god, I can't believe they left a bowl of urine there' or ' they were sick all over the carpet' or dog wee stories etc

But , on here are people who are going through the same thing day in & day out. they might know something or have a better way of handling it, which can make our lives that bit easier.

You have a choice you know, either stay and be a part of it, or don't.

Regards

lots of people post on here, some (like me) are quite prolific in there participation,  but it would be a mistake to judge (or think you know someone) just by reading this board.

to think some of us are lonely and insecure is to believe that what you read here is a real representation of the actual person.

I live with alone with my wife as my only companion.
I forgot to mention that my wife is actually myself, we married in a private ceremony in the airing cupboard. I also have all my children around me, well I say children there actually dolls.
The curtains are never open at my house in case people see me with no trousers.

I love knitting, jigsaws and making cakes.

Lets be friends, love me!

I come on this forum because it's reassuring.  Theories I have as to the next job's problems can be confirmed, if need be.  The best discussion I get relates to equipment, since at an average cost of between £500 and £1500 per significant item, I don't want to make mistakes and spend unnecessarily.

I regularly look in on another c/c board.
Recently one of its members floated the suggestion to relax the membership criteria to allow some other cc's to join the board.
The response from another member was, 'Do you want a load of Rugsuckers & their nutty brothers to be part of the board?'

The above thread makes me think the second member has a point

i look on this board in the hope that i might learn how to be a better cleaner, and oh i forgot, when i see the grammar and spelling from most of the contributors, it makes me feel much better about myself.

Said by the man who licks round a certain person and shares the company bed with the rest of em, then comes on here claiming to be impartial!
