sticky stuff on the window
« on: July 16, 2007, 05:30:33 pm »
Hi

I've been given new build clean with big windows and on those windows there is a cross on each one and that cross looks like the gaffer tape adhesive, it is not sticky but crusty,

so my question is,

How do I get it off, the customer has stressed that they do not want the glass scratched

Hope you can help please

Many thanks

Nick

The only way to do it I've found is with a little fairy, a plastic scouring pad and a lot of elbow grease.

I did this Jim123 fairy elbow grease for removed label adhesive on windows. So I was quite confident in saying the next time, yes I can do that. But I couldn't, I spent ages and didn't achieve very much.

Now I keep a variety of solvents in my van in case I need them.

Can't advise because I haven't been in that situation again with a solvent handy.

Wet first then a new scraper blade and move in one direction, never fails.
Scouring pad send shivers down my spine, you could end up with the odd scratch or two.

There isn't much that white spirit won't shift, and its cheap and available anywhere. Gaffer tape glue will be spirit based so it should work.
