no thats really not good at all.

prior to mains supply change our inlet tap water was between 300 and 350ppm.  Merlin took it down to 004ppm.  4040 took it down to 001ppm.  With our inlet now only 97ppm merlin takes it down to 003ppm and 4040 takes it down to 000ppm/001ppm.  This is with 45psi inlet pressure as well.

JM123 what kind of inlet pressure do you have on your 4040 ro?

45psi - doesn't matter whether its fed into the merlin or 4040, pressure is still the same.

Hi,

My tds reading before ro is around 400, with new filters it comes out at around 8 - 10.

I have a 300 gpd ro and the mains water pressure going into the ro is 60 psi.

Thanks JM123 I thought you would need a booster pump at that pressure to get water that pure from both systems.

Dudek,
you might need a booster pump. My pure is under 3ppm and the ratio of pure to waste improves too.

davew - it can also depend on the actual mineral makeup of the inlet water.  some membranes are very good at removing lets say sodium, while others aren't, 2 people using the same membrane but one with high sodium content may get a different reading to the one with low sodium content etc etc.

All I can say is our water must be really good. ;D

Well i have just come in from the van and i am kicking out 060 from the ro so it is slowly rising >:(

I dont know what to do , i cant let this go on forever!

I have been told the water pressure and loads of other factors to do with water supply can fluctuate all the time!

Im not convinced!

Am i using the right type of hose to maximise water pressure?

I have been racking my brains for the solution which is so far elusive ???

Please someone out there must have the answer?

vision on
I was getting a crazy reading of about 90 from my merlin too when I first got it, I had to put mine together and on closer inspection one of the rubber washers in one of the membranes was kinked and not sitting flush so I replaced it with a same size washer from local plumbing shop, and added some silicone lubricant, my advice would be to check those as if you've had the unit apart a couple of times its easy for them to get damaged.
Hope this helps
