Hi all
I am in need of a booster pump and was wondering what pump would be best,
Could I use a shurflow 100psi pump from a 12volt transformer and would this be enough to take the psi up to run my 40/40 ro, At present I have about 2.2bar at the mains in our new unit and this is only about 31psi
It is taking about 9 hrs to fill a 1000ltr IBC and is driving me up the wall.
All the pipes from the mains to the ro are standard ½ inch hose would smaller or bigger pipes help increase the pressure

Andy my preessure was 35psi until I fitted booster pump and the pressure shot upto 75psi, I bought just a normal booster pump from purefreedom and it comes complete with a transformer.

Are you running yours on standard hose ,
As i bought a pump from the garden centre and all i had was to much pressure and the gaskets kept blowing so i took it back
the guy said it was probably because the pump was to strong for the pipe
It was one that could be run out of the water not like a transfer pump,

No I'm running it with the small bore tube that comes with the RO systems, mine came with the fittings ready to just plug in and go.

My water storage tank now fills up twice as fast, it took a while to get used to it filling so fast and I ended up with a couple of floods :

the best pump i have found is a 150 psi sure flow although the pressure switches are a little easy to poip ,
alternately there is a guy on e bay selling a range of pumps look for the 160 psi 12 volt system

you can also use the booster  pump they use for the merlin has it has an inbuilt pressure switch you ll need to set on its higher point

if using an electric cut off system u can use a 70 psi by pass switch the one we use has a high flow rate which compensates for lower psi. must be fitted in an electric system as they do not have there pressure switch in there.

all 12 volts dont like to run continues for more than 3 hours if your filling 1000 liters its at limit unless your taking 650 at a time

Hi Andy,

I put a booster pump on my 4040 RO about 6 months ago, my water pressure is simaler to yours, About 2.2Bar.

It takes my IBC tank 4 hours to fill up. I have my Flowcontroller set on flush all the time, with my pump I get 4ltrs of pure to 9ltrs of waste a minute. My tds is 90 tap to 0 tds after RO. Without pump 1.8 ltr of pure to 7.2ltrs waste and 3 tds.

My pump was expensive coming in over £200 from machine Mart. Pic below.

I only have 1/2" hose going in and 1/2" going out. If You had a 1" hose going in you would get even better pressure, I cant get lower then 0tds so I am happy with how fast my tank fills.

I bought my booster pump from www.ro-man.com boosts my pressure to a steady 75psi hope this helps.
