Adam

If your serious about carpet cleaning then you really need a new machine.

If you think that in 6 month time you'll be doing something else then buy a second hand one.

Think about what the customer sees when you arrive, they dont care if you drive a 10 year old van. But they do care what you bring into there house.

Personally £2000 for a machine your going to use more less every day for the next 3 years is not a big investment.

You have got a lot to learn anyway without having a roapy machine that always need fixing.

Adam, I think David is right you do need a good reliable machine, but there are good second hand machines out there you just need a little luck and keep looking around.
The nature of carpet cleaning means there are a number of people who fancy getting away from a 9-5, get a new machine but cant make it work so end up selling there hardly used machine, usually on ebay.
Thats how i got my Commanche, used 6 times and in as new condition for only £800 :)
