i think the carpet was mistaken for pink andrex toilet paper .
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

I quoted £100 per room ,
this was to just clean the areas i could see, I told her i was not moving any thing ,and all i was doing was giving it a once over, she accepted this....... to my amazment, and i also made sure i used her vacuum :D   which happen to be a tub vac , quite hand really ;D  No way was my vac coming out of the van.
As for after pics, well I didnt want to be hanging around , and the results although a vast improvment were not spectaculer

Ok, lets not get giddy on pricing. Firstly that lounge carpet could quite easily be cleaned after all the stuff was dumped on the sofa. So lounge carpet £95.00. The bedroom, bearing in mind the state £65.00, The stain due to the probable nature :o £125.00.
I would invoice her a very fair £285.00 for lounge and bedroom and allocate myself about two hours.

One day, a prospect, customer or perhaps someone from their family will come across this sort of post on one of our industry's forums and they'll recognise the rooms etc. Then they will read the derogatory remarks from all over the country from people they've never met or heard of.

How much ill feeling towards individuals and our industry will this create?

I think that the way that this topic has been conducted is out of order.

How would you feel about strangers talking about your loved ones in this way?

Safe and happy cleaning :)

I agree with Ken,did you get permission to post the pics on the forum you could leave yourself wide open for legal action against you if you did not gain customers permission.

so now it appears I need permission to post pics ,

do me a favour , Im sure lots on here including Steve and Ken have posted on here , as for making derogatory remarks , not exactly derogatory, just pointing out some of the situations .

Now I wonder if the press ever get permission to publisise ??
Geoff

ps. Im forgetting that obviously some on here are the mighty than the thou :)

Geoff

I don't have a problem with any of the text in your posts, but by attaching the pictures and subsequent derogatory remarks by others, it all becomes personal to an unnamed person.

If it was my mothers home, it would be in order for me to tell her the house was a tip, but like most of us, I would be very defensive if others said the same.

I was not considering the legal implications of this issue but that could be another complication.  I don't know where the law stands on the issues raised by Steve, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were legal implications.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Personally can't se anything wrong with it. Its amazing how some people live. This is a cleaning forum and can't see why you can't post pics of jobs carried out, especially bad ones as long as the persons aren't actually identified.
However I would never post pics of a trauma scene as these are usually something which has caused great grief to the families and should remain private, unlike some of the American prats who plaster them all over their websites.

When you have a testimonial from a customer you get them to sign it to say you can use it in your marketing stuff same with pics.

Who owns stuff online?

One of the most common misconceptions about the internet is that all material on it is freely available to the public.

Just like the real world, every image, sentence, and audio or video clip belongs to someone, and if you use it without permission you are breaking the law.

The high profile cases in the media are usually about pirated online music or videos but that doesn't mean that you can freely copy text and pictures.

If you take a picture of work you have carried out then that picture belongs to you doesn't it? not the person who owns the item pictured.

That's the grey area yes the pic belongs to you but you still need permission to use it

Steve is right. I have some professional legal training in this arena (in a past life) and the rules regarding the internet are exactly the same. Tread carefully. And wilst I think it unlikely that the sort of people Ken is talking about will see this post he is again right in saying it paints a poor picture of us as professionals. That said, it's hard to not to look and be amased how some people live.

p.s. Steve, no good with those two at Ascot but made it up with Manduro as I put a sum amounting to what is probably a days earnings for you on it so came out well up. More importantly the old man had a great day out and told me that he was so proud to have a Son like me (tears welling etc.)

as long as no-one is named...the onus would be on the person to prove it is their house...not a solicitor in the land would bother their backside pusuing something like that...
