Along the lines of the phone scam mentioned on another post, (sorry no pun intended :

I hope all you guys who have your business details,customer data base etc are backing up your data on a regular basis (every 1-3 days at least) and I don't mean just to disk.
When your computer goes down or is attacked by a virus the disruption it causes is only matched by the money it costs you to rectify or in my case replace the system.This happened to me a couple of years ago and it was a hard lesson learned.
As a result I lost all my files and had to start inputting all the info from my paper files on the new system all over again

The cost of data retrieval from specialist companies is horrendous (£1000's of pounds) worth it to major companies but not viable in my case.
I now have anti-virus and firewall installed on my system but most importantly I also have
Datasurefrom BT where by all my data is backed up and sent via the internet to them for safe storage off site.This can be done daily if required.
In the event of a disaster either loss of data or hacking of your computer etc or you install a new system, you can simply click a button and get all your data sent back to you safely and put back onto your system.
Piece of mind is a wonderful thing

but don't, like me wait until it's too late do it now if you havn't already.
