one of my biggest customers,
who i do sub work for has spilt lucozade on his cream carpet.
wants me to go to billingham, to see if i can get it out
in my opinion the stain will have set in a very quick time
any advice, on the best remedy if any?

mr van, i'd try tea & coffee/ stain reducing bleach. if discolouration remains, apply an alkaline detergent spotting solution, then blot. if colour remains, apply oxidising bleach. then pray!!!!! regards char

A few years ago i had the same situation, Lucozade on a cream carpet, i used Red Rx with an iron and towel and "hey presto" complete success!

no, take a carpet fibre with a set of tweezers, offer it to a flame, not petrol lighter a normal lighter, then if it crumbles (ashes) & smells like burnt hair its natural.(wool), if it melts & beads it synthetic. nylon smells like cellery, polyprop smells like fuel, paraffin. acrylic smells aromatic. cotton smells of burning paper. polyester smells of strong pleasent aroma.  lucozade will be more difficult to remove if its wool, wool is easy to dye & tan. regards char

Hi,

Lucozade contains an E colourant (124 i think) which is a solid azo dye.  In scotland we have Irn Bru that contains the same dye and i have tried everything to remove it.

Azos should react better with reducing bleaches and i have tried many, with excessive heat and acid catalysts.  Doesnt touch it.

If where you are travelling to is far away, then i would really try not to go.  I guess if its a good customer then you will have to anyways.

will have to go as a favour for my customer
as he is the hand that feeds me, so to say 60mile round trip to his house

I was rung by an estate agent and asked to go to the footballer Craig Bellamys house when he played for the toon! Seems his kid spilt some lucozade on the cream wool bedroom carpet. My gear didn't even look like it was going to remove it!

By the way I asked her if he was difficult like all the stories suggest and she said everything you hear about him is probably very true he is a complete tit!

Nope didn't even look like it was going to move either. Saying that she said it was spilt a year or so previous so the time will not have helped!!
