Received a parking fine today for £100 from the City of Westminster dated 13/08/04.The strange thing is i've never been to the City of Westminster with my van
Spoke to them this afternoon and explained i'm based in the North East but this did not wash with them gave them the name,address and telephone number of the clients house who's carpets i was cleaning at the time of the said offence still no joy.I have to send a letter detailing all the facts and they will decide whether to pursue the fine or not.

I had a similar experience in the eighties, a parking ticket for a car i sold i did all the neccessary paperwork when i sold the car. I had to prove i wasnt driving the car  even though it had been sold. I had to prove where i was at the exact time the offence took place It turn out i was under a  argentine air attack in the falklands conflict.   Paul

you need to find out if the original ticket was issued by a person or was it a camera offence (congestion charge)

if it was issued by a person then you don't have a problem. what people often don't know is when you are issued a ticket and the warden takes the car reg no' he takes it not of the car but off the tax disc, he also take the serial no' of the tax disk.

your car & number plate can be cloned without the offender seeing your vehical but he can't clone your tax disc.

ask for comformation of you tax disc serial no' or send a photcopy of your disc to the ticket office as proof it was'nt your vehicle

if it was a camera ie bus lane or congestion then insist they send you the photo, this will prove it wasnt you.

a case last year was alleged to be a tractor in a bus lane, the pic showed it to be a moped, case solved fake number plate.

Got a parking ticket a few weeks ago for single yellow line offence.

So on Friday I rang the local police station, spoke to the head warden, told her I was working in a certain street all day and would be parked on a single yellow.  No problem she says just display a notice on the dash to say the above and the wardens would be informed.  

Hey presto no ticket for me today.

if you havent paid the first one, then appeal and send in supporting paperwork ie invoice for the job,

sometimes that works, and the ticket wil be cancelled.

Some local authorities issue cameras to there staff where the take a picture of the offending vehicle with ticket on screen, that’s worth checking. Re congestion/bus lane charge that’s issued Ken’s mob not local authorities.

You can also get away on a double yellow you need to know times of the restrictions and double parking but will say you have to be a tm/recoil to get away with it! I’ve even got away with it on the white zig zag lines Victoria st SW1 dead opposite Westminster Cathedral two Saturdays ago Yellow light helps plus charm!

I have had two parking tickets in the last two months for parking outside my own office! ARGHHHH

The street is a residents zone even though there are no houses up the office end!  The car park costs £30 a month and trying to get a space is a nightmare.  Wonder whether I'll be able to get a residents permit - £25 a year - must give the council a ring.

Hi Guys

Down here in brighton they do a traders permit where you can park anywhere even on resident bays. It is £75 for 3 months or about 70p a day. As the parking charges have just changed here I think I will invest, tired of dodging the wardens.

waiting list here for resident permit...18 months!

I think it is up to about 4pm but need to research it further. It certainly gives more freedom.

Down here we have parking zone numbers a,b,c, m,n etc etc you are allowed to park on any of these but i think there will be a time limit?

I cannot for the life of me see what all the fuss is about with driving 4 x 4's... it's just another vehicle which if driven correctly and safely is simply just another vehicle.

It is the manic drivers who need to be dealt with....properly!  
Like the one on the M11 yesterday who was weaving in and out of traffic in various overtaking/ undertaking maneuvers which included the hard shoulder

What goes around comes around.  Could not believe my luck today.  I got ticket today illegally parking quote code 634 parked with one or more wheels on any part of an urban road other than a carriageway.

The Westminster tw had me bang to rights only one problem I was on private land yes he was advised by the concierge of the building and the pub manager, then while loading the porty equipment another one appeared and started to issue me with another ticket, it appears they only employ brain dead people and lack communication skill

Now I have all the agro in writhing to them and supplying a picture (my backup) one tip I was given if private land, cover your number plates then they cant issue a ticket. Would love to supply picture don’t know how too.

Always appeal and tell them you were loading and unloading. Finding witnesses (real or not) always helps
