Chriopractor
« on: June 04, 2007, 09:36:31 pm »
I am 31 and have been WFP now for nearly a year. I have for the last few months been having some discomfort in my lower back and shoulder. I had a few massage's and it did not seem to cure it, so a friend who has one leg slightly longer than the other recommended me to his Chriopractor. I went along today for my consultation, was in there for an hour and half, going through medical history, type of job and phisical examination. After this i had an X Ray which showed that my spine was curving to the right and my left hip was lower than my right. They put it down to the job, using the same arm and positions to clean, lifting, stretching ect. They will be able to put me all back into place, but if i carry on with the job which i am and they dont say to give up the job, i should go back every 3-6 months for regular check up/treatments. I have never had a problem before with my back, so just goes to show. Just look after yourselves guys!!

I'm sorry to hear that.

At least they said they can put you back in shape.

My left elbow has been cracking away this last week or so and I was thinking it was to do with wfp?

Thanks, it may not all be down to WFP, but probably has contributed to it. They seem to think the shoulder is to do with the back, all the nerves connected ect. I change hands, not as much as i should, i also try to keep my arms below or just above the waist where i can.

I started having back trouble when I was 29 due to the repetitive nature of the job. I found the services of both a chiropracter and a few years later an Osteopath, very helpful. Though for me it was the latter that got to the real root of the problem. The deep muscle massages I got from the Osteopath were fantastic. Painful at first but when I go used to them...terrific

I only started to have any back problems after I started window cleaning (trad).  I started when I was 34.  I am left handed.  My left shoulder was starting to give intermittent problem about the time I switched to the pole.  After switching to the pole, I got tennis elbow in my left arm which now seems to have got a lot better.  More recently my right shoulder started playing up.  At first it was very tingly followed by a lot of tightening up.  I switched to a lighter pole and it's now a lot better.  Lower back also gets stiff at times.
Chiropractors ands acupuncturists have been a great help to me.  I haven't needed to go for quite a while now.  I even got the window cleaning job at the acupuncturist's place  :)  .

not that I am an expert or I would be earning the big dosh that chirptractors get!!!! ;D, but when I needed treatment from one, it was put down to many many years of bad posture and too much sport !!!, so don't be too quick to blame the job you are doing now!

I am very lucky, My daughter is a Physio and acupuncturist,[You can get acupuncture on the national health]
Where I am really lucky is that my wife's family are the local massage experts in their village in central Java, Indonesia. I mean proper massage, not the kind you get in backstreet salons. They can even give abortions through massage techniques, although my misses would never contemplate it.
My misses would never get a degree in anatomy, But she is a wizard with bad backs and muscular pain.
One local woman was wearing a collar for months, and never had to wear it again after the misses sorted her out.
I try to keep quiet about her talents locally, I don't want a load of male neighbors knocking on the door to have there supposed bad backs sorted.
My misses has even massaged my daughter the physio, she said "that girl knows every acupuncture trigger point".
It's handy having a misses that can cure my aches and pains, costs me nothing but a few complimentary remarks either Dai
