i dont do repairs..............

i have a customer who would like to know how much would it cost to replace a iron burn in the carpet............ :

have asked if they have any spare carpet to do the repair with..........but they need to check with landlord......

just looking for a ballpark figure...........or if it would be cheaper to replace carpet......

cleaner burnt carpet and will pay for the repairs or replacement.(no not my staff)

easy job to do if you know how
provided its tufted carpet and it dosent have a pattern it shouldnt take more than 15-20 minutes

I guess i would do it for my minimum charge which is £59 dont know what others would charge

Red i can see the procedure that your using, however what i meant was-as i stated, how are you bonding the items together?

cut the piece out, carpet tape underneath, hot glue gun, and then push down and rub over to blend pile.

Easier said than done though as you have to make sure the pile is going in the right direction and have to get the piece the exact size etc.

Pics above are at a course i done run by Alltec well worth going on if you wanna add another string to your bow you will come out knowing how to do that and repair cig burns and other problems.

Red, When we went on the carpet repair course at Alltec we were told to seal the edges of the carpet with a sort of glue. Does that still apply?  Also we were told to use a machine called a Pineapple to blend the piece of repaired carpet together. Does that still apply? I must admit that since being on the course we have not been asked to do any repairs,and must admit would  be very cautious about doing one.

If the burn is in the middle of a room, (as usual) and the carpet is not new (unlike the photos), how do you patch it in? you can not.
If the carpet is worn it is difficlt to get a good repair and is often best left.
However if the carpet is in good condition, carpet repair is a good add on, and Alltec do an excellent course

If the damage is in the middle then do a double patch. Nick a bit from a part worn bit and then replace that with a new bit. The two patches will not be so noticable.

I thought you could get a tool, like a compus, it will cut a circle out, you use the same setting to cut out of donor carpet see they are of course an exact fit/size then.

Chris thatis a Cookie cutter,you canpick them up cheap on ebay.
