« on: May 22, 2007, 09:12:31 pm »
does anyone clean ladbrokes shops .as we clean a few and have been told to stop as a national co will now be doing them .whilst i wont particulary miss them .i dont get why they would choose to use a national company .surely they will just sub the job to a local wc .

This is what i meant when i was talking about paying £20.000  for a round of shops, imagine paying that and then the same thing happening.

this always narks me, I personally think its just penny pinching from whatever chain of shops it may be.
Often results in poor quality work too.
At one point I did our local woolies, the national contractor was Initial at the time.
As I was dead local they had a top job done, but prior to myself the work being done was really ropey.

After a while Initial lost the contract, new guys took over and some other cleaner took it on, didn't last long and then our very own Tosh took it up for a while, but the money was really poor...always had been too...
So Tosh also dumped the job.
The place looks grubby and dirty all the time now, the guys doing it are no longer regular and the job they do is poor, very poor.

The Lloydstsb is also a national contractor, yet again most of the time the place looks grubby, and when whoever it is does come and clean it, the job they do is poor indeed.

It also takes away the power of choice from the shop managers, if they want extra work done, before it can be ok'd it has to go through channels, if the window cleaner does it off his own back there is a strong chance he won't get paid for the work he's done.

I hate this trend of national chains contracting out to national window cleaning firms.
I've lost WH Smiths to one, BetFred, and boots, the major supermarkets are out of my range as a result of national contacting, as are the big banks, fortunately they make up only a tiny fraction of my work.

Lloyds Tsb is mitie. Talk about bad practice. I was in my branch and 2 guys were there with thier ladders in the foyer (its an old branch) no signs and when he had used his applicator he just chucked it onto the floor below! He didnt even look. Then when he was cleaning the till windows he couldnt reach the tops (short arse) so he only did the half below the blinds. I knew the girl behind the counter and told her and she looked at me knowingly and said nothing we can do! Surely something could have been done!

I had an email about 6 weeks ago from Greggs wanting quaìotes for regions around the south east. Put a price in but never heard anything.

Anybody else get that email? Any joy?

I saw a chap doing Nat west on a national contract. He was useless at trad and admitted it to me himself, 'I cant use these things' he said whilst  using an extension pole squeegeeing of the water from the window above the cash machine even though someone was there using it at the time.
How on earth they keep these jobs is beyond me, or more to the point how these national companies employ people who cannot clean windows.

we better watch out or these national companies will be taking over everything soon .we might have to become national companies ourselves to get some work .

On another thread asking about method statements,  risk assesments, insurance etc, one guy said thank god for good old fashioned bungs.

If you worked for watisface and had to award the work what would you do, tell local managers to get the best deal they can, or let someone send you to florida for a couple of weeks?

i think these shops etc .would rather have national companies do the work so its just one big invoice .they not to worried that these people .contract the work out to window cleaners who have no pride in their work .
